What Requirements Should People Need To Purchase A Gun?

I didnt say if you use drugs I said if they have substance abuse issue. And if that substance has ties to violence or criminal activity in your history. If you was high off weed and beat a nigga within an inch of their life then yea you shouldnt be legally allowed to own a gun. If you a weed head yet you hold down a full time job with no violations and carry on a normal, law abiding life, you good under my purview.
I don't know how they'd be able to do that. People have difference reactions

What does any of those have to do w/ owning s firearm legally…

Guns wouldn't be sold to just anyone.

It would cut down being sold to just anybody. You'll have to have a family to own a gun.

Who do more shootings, people with families/kids/jobs or people without families/not-married/no-jobs

Not sure if there's a stat out there.

I just think family/marriage cuts down a lot of problems.

It's ridiculous, but honestly may be the most impactful of the changes proposed in here.

Folks w/ wifes/kids commit crime everyday B some may even justify what they do because of them. Just because your single or childless doesn’t mean you have shit to lose or fight for. If you’re a shit person your a shit person Not matter your martial or dependent status.

I never said that they did not commit crime, I only stated that one may not commit as much as crime as the other one.

Less people in the country or state or city depending on implements this requirement will have guns if marriage/job/children are the requirement.

I'm convinced a good percentage of people don't just want common sense gun laws, more strict gun laws, etc. They just want guns banned, and their suggestions are the next step towards that.

A lot of the suggestions in this thread show that.

What they don't even realize is that we already have common sense gun laws.

True assault rifles were banned in 1986
Short barrelled rifles can't legally be owned without registering it with the government and paying for an NFA stamp
Can't purchase a handgun unless you're 21
Can't purchase a rifle/shotgun unless you're 18 (this could be raised to 21)
Can't legally buy, transport, or even hold a gun or even just ammo if you're a user of any banned substance, including weed (1968 Gun Control Act)
All purchases from licensed gun dealers require an FBI run background check (this can be made universal so it covers private sales as well)
Can't legally buy a gun if you have even a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction
Can't legally buy a gun if you're not a citizen
Convicted felons across the board cannot own a gun
Anyone that has ever been institutionalized or deemed to be "mentally defective" by the courts can't own a gun
Anyone with an active order of protection against them can't own a gun
Got a dishonorable discharge from the military? Can't own a gun
Even if you're under indictment for any crime that can land you behind bars for even a day over a year you can't buy, transport, or own a gun.

Seriously... other than maybe raising the age to 21 across the board, nationwide red flag laws, and making background checks 100% universal, what other laws could possibly be passed???
