Lauri in theory is a great fit on the Spurs roster.

That contract and injury history is UGLY

I would be cautious and hesitant as well, its just such a seamless fit lol

The cost of acquiring should be reasonable but yeah the injury history would concern me more than the contract itself...if you were to tell me he was going to be relatively healthy and available in the playoffs I would feel better because you're getting him through his age 31 season which should be his prime years

It would really depend on the package

There is no "right" approach imo. There is no exact science to this shit. OKC has done well for themselves and should be applauded for their ability to win the title with mostly players they've actually drafted sans SGA but even with him, they viewed him as a piece and had no issue asking the clippers for him when they traded PG for him.

This simply isn't going to be every teams story

But, this validates my point. If they are drafted somewhere else based on a better ideal roster composition, maybe they have more staying power in the NBA vs being phased out

I agree with the statement above 100%

Any competent GM isn't going to want to give up a ton to take on that deal and that injury history for what Ainge is gonna want as far as asset returns.

I also agree with @MrBeef that the best player they would be getting back as Castle, wouldn't be what Ainge would consider as a good trade. Especially with the draft assets most likely being garbage if health is on the Spurs side.

The microwave culture exists even in basketball. Not all situations are created equal. Every draft pick in the lottery or the first round shouldn't have the same expectation, especially when you factor in where they were drafted and the teams construction at the time they were drafted

After the rookie contract is a better time to assess where they need to be in their career at that point

But I'm not cause there are too many variables to consider
