COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

Lmao..the US government is out of control and looks from the outside to be in free fall.

Abysmal.

I don't think the U.S. will be able to regain what it's lost when it comes to international respect.

Everyone said this after Trump's first term. Other leaders don't gaf about anything more than what they can get out of an administration. Once trump is out they'll all be back to check the temperature. As long as we remain a superpower nothing changes.

Everybody said we'd lose respect, and we did. There were incidents were Biden tried to do things and diplomats fired back by saying that America wasn't trustworthy.

Trump has been worse this time. Japan and Korea were some of our top trading partners. They've linked up with China. That's not going to change instantly when Trump leaves. When the Canadians say they can't just give the U.S. the benefit of the doubt anymore, do you think they're lying? There are nations out there that are actively looking to abandon the USD as the global currency. If that happens, that's not something that can just be flipped back on when Trump leaves. There are people in our own country that are already saying that Trump has basically made this the century of China going forward. Walz just came out and said that China would have to broker peace in the Middle East because the U.S. no longer has the standing to do so.

Genuine question, what incidents?

If Trump ends the tariff wars they will be back.

Yes

The first sentence is very general. That has been going on since at least 2006 (BRICS). Matter of fact, the whole premise of cryptocurrency was to get off the dollar.

People say a lot of things

If you are referring to Tim Walz then....lol

Genuine question, what incidents?

Foreign policy negotiations. One incident was with respect to the Ukraine/Russian war. I'll have to see if I can find the article.
If Trump ends the tariff wars they will be back.

Why? I'm not saying they'll never do business again with us, but if China has become a more stable trade partner, they're not just going to reverse the new deals that have been made with. Just like when farmers lost contracts during Trump's last term because of those tariffs. They didn't get those contracts back.

Yes, and China is actively expanding BRICS right now. The stronger that block gets, the better their positioning to accomplish their goal. That's the whole point I'm making. Trump is putting us in a position where things against us that were largely unsuccessful are now gaining traction.

People say a lot of things

Yes, and some of those things are true.

If you are referring to Tim Walz then....lol

I'm not sure why you're laughing, but that's not a retort to the point he was making, so...

Do u mean US farmers? Bc we are talking about international. No one knows how to consume and spend like the US. Sure other countries may try to use any newfound leverage to their advantage, but nobody buys like we do. They'll be back.

BRICS has 11 members. It started with 5 countries in 2006. 5 more joined under Bidens administration. One more joined weeks before Trump's 2025 inauguration. Regardless the dollar has been on a massive decline for a while now and the economy was not good under Biden. If u wanna argue it was better go ahead, but not by much.

Walz would not be saying that if Biden was president. Did he say anything when that administration armed and funded the genocide? Let's be real here
