Im willing to give anyone a chance and will give the front office grace to execute their vision.

That said, Mike Malone would be my least favorite option.

I didn't expect it. Didn't think they would be brave enough.

I do wonder if Brunson was asked about this, and how much stock they put into his input. Brunson seemed like he loved Thibs, and signing off on this also he means he signed off on his dad getting fired.

They better not force the next coach to hire Rick Brunson as an assistant either. That would fuck everything up. If Rick organically gets the job cause the new coach sees value of having someone who can talk to Brunson on the bench, cool. But it better be 100% the new coaches decision.

All this shows is that Knicks are a serious franchise with real aspirations and not wasting time

Trust the front office

There's zero downside to this move imo

Might as well keep Thibs

They are very similar coaches and I'll just leave it at that
I’m spitballing but I didn’t think they’d pull the trigger so maybe they’ll surprise with a left field hire.

But off first thought I went to MM. With the Villanova obsession I can see them gauging Jay Wright’s interest as well

Only thing I'd say about Malone vs Thibs is that as much as I won't want Mike Malone, I don't expect him to look so rattled in a conference finals. Thibs looked like he never coached before.

I don't know who a coach would be. I would love a get a young dude that can be innovative type of pick, but this team is ready to win and not in place to get a coach who can grow along with the team.

So idk. I'm tired of the same 5 coaches changing teams, but I also don't think you can go with a coach that's not established

Y'all want Willie Green? 👀

Nikola Jokic makes it very easy to stay composed lol

And to be clear I dont think Malone is a bad coach but I think yall can do better and get someone not so stubborn and a little more innovative than the Thibs/Malone type

Jay Wright would be a very good look

I wanted him to come out of retirement to coach Texas

This is what I hate about the NBA.

You don't trade your key young player who you drafted for a superstar who is starting to age.

Especially when you haven't even seen what the team you have looks like.
We're literally hoping Barnes turns into giannis or comes close. I love Scottie but if you have a chance to go get the real thing you go get the real thing.

And what if he demands a trade in a year or two?

Plus Scottie is much younger.

Even if we win, I prefer to win with our guys.

Then we didn't do what we were supposed to do.

It doesn't come without risk but when these opportunities present themselves you gotta pounce.

Biggest thing to me in a trade for a superstar is not giving up too much draft capital and mortgaging our future in case shit doesn't work out.

How can everyone be so surprised?

I thought everyone agreed this should happen. I'm surprised at the front office being brave enough and doing it, but no should be surprised they did it.
What is it exactly in your opinion that thibs did to get fired and what could he have done differently? Genuinely asking not trying to argue.
