I mean the way I see it if you want a 1:1.. go replay the game or watch it on youtube.

I came into the show with the expectation that it's not going to be exactly the same and i'm ok with that. Some changes will hit the mark.. some wont. But coming in week after week saying aw damn they aint do the EXACT dialogue or do THIS or THAT the exact same way seems tiresome. Not sure how you can enjoy the show looking at it through that lens 🤷🏽‍♂️
No, the issue is them changing stuff that's important.

Tommy being with Joel when he died was a big change that didn't need to happen. Tommy was angry and because of that he was straight Rambo'ing those mf'ers.

It wasn't all good between Ellie and Dina, they had conflict.

They at the end of Ellie's story next week and only Nora dead.

These are legit gripes

Bruh you want them to include a Tommy going off storyline in this too, lol?

I think the show runners just setup major beats they want to hit then craft around that. The major beats so far this season is Ellie and Joel’s relationship, Ellie and Dina’s relationship, and the conflict between WLF and Scars.

Everything in the show is geared toward one of those 3 things. Tommy and Joel’s relationship isn’t in scope so him running wild in Seattle doesn’t serve the direction of the show.

So important in the game, not so much here.

thats one way to look at it. Or we could have enjoyed the games story AND are enjoying the different experience the show is presenting. We all have our opinions thats the point of the thread, to discuss the show lol. Me disagreeing with yall about not liking some of the changes is part of the discussion. We agree on this point though a 40+ hour game aint necessarily gonna translate all the way over in a 7(45 minute each) episode season so some of the stuff we loved in the game isnt gonna make it. Thats the point I been making.

Anyway - we'll all be back next week regardless lol. Yall fuckin with this season more or last season?
I don't like that they're not giving Abby's POV. I hated Abby with a passion but going back and forth was smart IMO. It gives you a chance to see her side and what she's going through. In the game I was strongly on team Ellie but tv viewers may not be had the show split up the viewpoints

I'd have to go back but I think whoever said that they're waiting until next season to give the Abby episodes was right sadly

I still think they should have recasted Ellie. Bella just doesn't appear to have grown. She still looks like a kid when part 2 she realistically looked like she's been a 19 year old that's faced a ton of hardships

The Jackson horde was awesome looking. Reminded me so much of Days Gone. I liked that addition. Even adding more depth to Jackson. Though I wish we had more episodes so the additions wouldn't take up time

Adding the therapy was interesting. Again though I wish we had more time for that addition. 7 episodes just isn't much time when they want to make more in depth storylines that the game didn't have

Pedro carried season 1 and Isabela has done an excellent job of carrying season 2. Wasn't expecting such a strong performance from Dina

Again like season 1 they should be facing more infected than they have. It's like the story is being played on easy lol

Which is why switching Dina into his role when Joel died is dumb. They didn't show it in the game of his massacre so it would have been nice for the TV show to have some scenes, at least have Ellie come upon the results of it like when Tommy tortured the two dudes for the gate code.

But for the show, which chose to focus on Joel/Ellie, Ellie/Dina, and WLF/Scar, it makes perfect since to put Dina in that scene. Tommy/Joel is not a focal point for the show.

And that’s just how TV works. They have to focus on a few focal points with the limited time they have. If they had the Tommy vs WLF plot they would have had to flesh out his and Joel’s relationship more and Tommy’s personality more and Tommy’s combat skills more through a bunch of scenes to make his motivation and ability to do so make sense in the show.

Lets be honest here. This show is mid at best. If it was not on HBO, based on a known property or had notable actors no one would care about this show. Compared to other HBO shows like TGoT the action is mediocre. Compared to TWD (even though the show fell off) the threat of the infected is not well represented as the zombies in TWD are. As someone said Ellie and Dina are super loud. They did a poor job of making the world feel dangerous as if there is no virus or infected enemies outside of certain areas like the subway. Even when they encountered the WLF we did not see the combat capability that they possessed. Now I have not watched the latest episode so maybe they did them justice and the dogs better had been in it. The world building is trash with no obstacles during their travels and just includes a bunch of pointless talking that adds nothing to the story. What is Ellie's motivation? yeah she is looking for Abby, but that town meeting the episode that Joel died ruined it, because there are more than Abby and her friends. So as I said before having that town meeting was pointless since it takes away from Ellie's motive being revenge only. Killing Abby is not going to stop the WLF if the town thinks there could be more attacks. They have a whole army like WTF! LOL. I just want to see how they recreate certain scenes and they have not delivered.

  • Season 2, Episode 6 of the HBO series 'The Last of Us' dives into Ellie and Joel's past, revealing shocking truths.
  • Showrunner Craig Mazin discusses fan reaction, changes from the video game, and the emotional impact of the storytelling.
  • The season finale sets up a need for a longer Season 3 and a Season 4 to conclude the story.

I don’t think they need all of that unless they planning on giving a lot deeper into shit. I really think they could have wrapped this up in 2 seasons based on the game. Maybe 3 but that’s the max.

It's definitely missing the apocalyptic feel the game had with extremely limited resources and infected usually around every corner
