Ya'll are trying to simplify something that's much more complex and layered. I think some have an issue with the martyrization of Cassie because that comes off as absolving her of the clearly bad choices that she made within this whole toxic situation. She got caught up in lifestyle and indulged in the very power/control dynamics she was also victim of, like many people do who are abused. She's not complete saint here and saying that doesn't mean she wasn't victimized by Puff nor does it make his actions any less vile.
