The Parent Thread

@Big_Ev how is babygirl doing?
She is doing a lot better. We had to take her to the hospital last week because she told her teacher that she wanted to harm herself. We had a meeting with her teacher and things have gotten better at school. Those girls have stayed far away from her.

I'm glad to hear she better. I saw this affirmation and thought her...

My wife and I really think that the girls are jealous of her because one she taller than almost everyone in the class. And two is that she is more developed than all of the girls. So in turn, they call her fat.
Awwww...I had similar experiences when I was her age. I was an early bloomer too so by 4th grade I was tallest kid in the class and had already started my period(which is really funny because I'm only 5'3' lol). My issue was with boys calling me fat more so then girls, but that phase only lasted a little while. Once the other kids catch up with her, the bullying should subside.

My mama never came to my job while I was working which is wild cause it was the grocery store

Question for all the parents...do you all have conversations with your kids about current news events?
My 13 year old. Absolutely. He's questioning everything..... And it's healthy. So I have those conversations.

In this climate, you have to. My oldest understands a lot about what’s going on. She is also worried that ICE could come to her school and take some of her friends away.

Yes, from an early age. I frame it differently based on age.

Me and my youngest daughter are on a 5th grade field trip in DC right now. She feeling a way going with Trump in office, lol.

How open are you when having those kinds of conversations? I know I've been struggling a bit with how much I share with my lil one. I want him to have understanding, but at same time keep him oblivious if that makes sense...

Yeah my son has been asking a bunch of questions regarding ICE and the deportations too which is what made ask me here.

That’s the difficult part, trying to keep them innocent as long as possible without making them jaded.

We were at the Marines museum and they had an exhibit about black Marines. I still pointed out to her the exhibit where black Marines talked about the racial issues, but part of me was like do I want to expose her to that type of hatred?

Side note, that whole museum might look different next year. There’s a lot about minorities and women serving.

Same question to you...how open are you when these conversations pop up?
