Somewhere along the way McDonald’s forgot who they was and where they came from. You guys sell acceptable food poison to the masses. Where is this mentality coming from? Like what makes you think yall shouldn’t sell the food for a dollar again?

Nearly 80% of Americans now consider fast food a 'luxury' due to high prices

A recent LendingTree survey found that 78% of Americans now consider fast food a "luxury" purchase due to high prices, with 62% eating it less frequently and nearly half finding it as expensive as sit-down restaurant meals.

El Pollo Loco's 'crazy' drive-thru prices send woman home

Restaurants including In-N-Out, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Chipotle, and Burger King have all raised menu prices to offset the labor costs after California increased the minimum wage for fast food workers back in April.

"LOS ANGELES - A woman was left speechless after she recently visited her local El Pollo Loco drive-thru and saw how much everything cost. TikTok user Josie (@josieherrera65) sat in El Pollo Loco’s drive-thru and filmed her reaction as she looked over the menu, in disbelief.

'I remember when a 12-piece Family Meal was $12.99. Now, it’s $43.99," Herrera said in the video. "I was okay when it was $23.99, $28.99, but $43.99? "That is crazy.'"

"McDonald’s executives acknowledged Monday that diners consider the company’s prices too high as lower-income consumers balk after years of high inflation.

During the company’s second-quarter earnings call Monday, executives said they are taking a “forensic approach” to evaluating prices and trying to create value. The company posted worse-than expected second-quarter earnings as same-store sales declined across every division.

“We recognize that in several large markets, including the U.S., we have an opportunity to improve our value execution. Consumers still recognize us as the value leader versus our key competitors but it’s clear that our value leadership gap has recently shrunk. We are working to fix that with pace,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said on the company’s earnings call.

Kempczinski said price increases have made consumers reconsider buying habits."
