For everyone who'd pledged or thought about pledging while you was in school...this thread is for you.

Rep your soro/frat.

What made you decide to pledge?

What benefits did you gain after pledging?

Without giving too much details...b/c I know certain things must not be mentioned...what was your experience like during the process, and after you crossed over?

For those who thought about doing it but didn't, what change your mind? And how do the rest of ya'll feel about sororities & fraternities in general?

Share your thoughts.

Considered it when I first started college until I found out that it cost money...

Decided I’d rather network and make friends the old fashioned (free) way

Nigga you post white porn gtfo.

I'm a Kappa, but I left the frat life behind in college. One of my best friends was my line brother and I'm still cool with a few others, but other than that, I saw it as an undergrad thing. I wasn't going back to the parties and to pledge new bruhs. I'll hit the occasional reunion but that's about it.

As far as crossing and all that, pledging was actually the easy part and we pledged for an entire semester. Shit was crazy at times, but simple. But actually running the yard, throwing parties, community service, frat politics, pledging new members, step shows, fundraisers, etc. was the hardest part of it. I guess for those of us that put in real work after we crossed.

And I got a lot of pussy before crossing, but the amount I got after I couldn't even believe. And I didn't even fuck the groupies. I was always charming and handsome so the letters just put me on a stage to be seen by more women.

All in all, a great experience I would do all over again if given the opportunity. The brotherhood and things you learned from bruhs you can't put a price on. A lot of educated, driven people. Some knuckleheads, but even they were ride or die.

I would have had a great college experience without it, but got damn if it didn't enhance my experience 100 fold.

And I'm not here to argue pros and cons or address bullshit myths. I had my experience and that's all I'm going to speak on. I have nothing to prove or debunk to anyone.

Most of my roommates were frat most in psi sigma phi... (i dont do that "brotherhood" shit )they sure nuff tried

then i had a semester or two with cats in a white frat

My freshman year I was put under heavy pressure to join Omega Psi Phi since I have a bunch of Q's in the family and one of my uncle's was a rather well know Q down the road at U of M.

I thought about it, but because I'm a solo-type of cat I passed.

i didnt understand frats and shit.

once went to famu to visit my cousin....and went to a party. niggas started barking and moving towards the center of the floor and was bumping niggas...i pushed one of them back and them niggas was about to flood me. and many years later i was told to be glad they didnt beat my ass because you dont break their line or whatever.

my point is.....i dont know whats going on....dont mean you just bump niggas.

til this day i hate them Q faggots.

matter of fact ...everytime stomp the yard comes on...niggas laugh at me cause it was like when dude was bumping all them guys.

@DOS_patos

It's funny because of how you reacted when you didn't understand what was going on when you saw them line dancing/stepping.
they was on there way to do that shit...they wasnt doing it yet.

that fucking song came on with the dog shit and fuckers start shaking the floor with all that damn stomping.....now i know why them kappas always beating them niggas with canes

Frat dudes seem like douchebags. I dont think there are any Frats or sororities up here, but i didnt go to college so i cant say that for sure.

All of my friends are Q"s and or Kappa's. Lot of my family are frat or soro's. I've seen both sides good and bad of the Greek life. The good they're in the community helping out doing great things. The bad the actual process to cross over is brutal and niggas literally got their asses beat and kicked and broken down to be "built" back up to be "brothers".

Not gonna lie I thought about getting on line but I have anger issues and I won't let shit go so you're not about to kick my ass for 2 months then call me your brother the next day nah b. Here in Charlotte a few in 2014 the Q's beat a kid into a coma who was trying to cross.

I had to calm a situation when I went back to school in '93. One of my boys from the hood and frequent SFII nemesis came up to EMU for his freshman year in '93. I came back that year and everybody that was somebody in Black greek circles knew me and my younger sister that started there in '92.

Me and the crew were standing out in front of the Eateries when a bunch of greeks flooded the area and started steppin, sounding off, and alladat. The young homie didn't get what was going on and turned to me like "Yo Koncept, what's going on here??? I don't get it, niggas just yellin some shit and everybody geeked over it? I can do that too" and he proceeded to mock the Sigmas and Q's chants. One of the Sigmas turns around and looks at dude like "Yo what the fuck you doin?" and proceeded to head in his direction and at the same time a Q turned to me like "Aye, ain't that yo boy???". I had to step in between both them niggas and my boy and explained "Yo, he new to all of this, he don't understand how this shit work" and had to smooth it over. I told dude "bruh, you can't be out here doin' that shit. You were about to take wood for that shit you was doin. These dudes serious about their frat, you can't just be an outsider doin what they do."

"Take wood??? What does that mean?"
"See that big ass paddle my mans is standing over there with?"
"Yeah..."
"You were prolly gonna have 3-4 big ass niggas holding you in place while one of them spanked yo ass with it."
"... fuck outta here. They ain't"
"them two duded I was just talking to was coming to see you over it. I told them you ain't know, now you do. Next time I ain't runnin interference"
