FEATURED Did Biggie Do Enough To Be Goat?

Who's Next ?? Tyson ,Jordan, Jackson

tyson?

lol
who considers tyson to be the goat boxer? i’ve never heard that from any reputable boxing fan

If Wemby wins the championship and MVP next season and the season after then something tragic happened (knock on wood it doesn’t) can he be the Goat? Ehhh. Can he be the best player I ever seen? Yeah

Part of greatness is longevity. If DMX passes away after Flesh of my flesh he’s higher on his career perception is higher than he is now. Shit if Cube does during the rollout to Death Certificate he’s higher. If BTNH perished after E.1999 let’s just put our heads in the sand and say their perception wouldn’t be different either.

Best and greatest two different things. If someone feels Biggie the best rapper to ever live I actually agree. Greatest there’s an argument and that’s not some gen z shit it’s an ample question. Just trying to not look at the angle would just be fanning it up.

i get it
there’s an argument against ever rapper in the GOAT conversation.
biggie didn’t have longevity because he was murdered. it’s unfortunate but it’s reality.
he hit every other metric imo

classic albums, verses, songs
influence
lyrical/technical ability
wordplay
commercial success
hit records
storytelling
presence

he’s not missing much. dudes body of work can compete with anyone’s, and he only has three years worth. how’s that not greatness?

btw idk why yall keep playing the what if game with wemby. you’re better off using pat mahomes. at least he’s accomplished shit

To me those are kind of one in the same in a way

First I start with rap ability then everything is secondary to me
How is greatness only tied to rap ability?

Nobody considers skyzoo top 20

Skyzoo is dope but he also came out at a different time to where rap skill didn’t get you as far

There were few rappers who had success without being great rappers in the 90s

Yes there were ppl like Too Short with basic rhymes but even the commercial/radio friendly rappers had a certain level of skill.

We enjoy different things. For me. I’m into the technical aspect of wrapping and who actually raps better.

I don’t like Lil Wayne because he’s “greater”

I like him because for a time he was rapping circles around everybody mostly out of his peers.

What makes a rapper a great if he’s not a great rapper ….bars
Art is subjective. People have different tastes in what is great rapping. Some would even say it's what you say and not how you say it. They might enjoy the message more than the multis.

cause mahomes has already accomplished more than biggie did

but would you consider mahomes the hands down goat if he was unable to play anther game?

Look at kanye
Even though Kanye has writers, Kanye’s rapping ability was pretty good for his first couple of albums, until he started focusing more on production and singing in autotune

Ye had/has a certain wittiness and cleverness that ppl copy often

But having great rap ability doesn’t ensure success

There are other factors involved like timing ,luck, affiliations

Ye brought his own style to the table influenced by ppl like Common,Tribe, and other conscious, alternative,or “ back pack” rappers.

He kind of brought that style to the pop world.

Is this you just delving into Kanye or is this your way of agreeing?

I think Kanye was/is a great rapper when he tries to be.

What sometimes he may lack and rapping ability he makes up with production or composition

By the time he kind of got lazy and lost some of his best writers, he was already set in stone

Is he a better artist than biggie and made more great music than him?
