I was just looking up random shit on how to build a pc and saw this. Just added stuff to my cart to see the price and it was like 980. Is this decent? I’m not looking to have some top level shit but just to be able to play my paradox games with mods and shit like that.

I'd say a minimum of 32GB of RAM instead of 16 if you're going to be running Win 10 or 11.
700W power supply or better (a little overhead never hurt anyone)
The SSD... I'm not a fan but don't let that stop you from copping.

The rest? I've heard good things about Ryzen processors so I wouldn't doubt it would work out.

It's looking a little light in the video card dept to me. The trouble is when you get a beefy video card you gotta make sure your cpu/ram and mb aren't going to be a bottleneck. And then you'll probably be looking at a PSU that's bigger than 550.

I guess it depends on what you're trying to do with it. If you're trying to play something like Starfield you might want to keep looking but if you're doing mostly turn-based or rts that would probably be good.

Koncept and sneak pretty much covered it Czar

I don't have much to add

@SeaSnake

Don't listen to Koncept, you do not need a minimum of 32 GB of ram, lol. That dude be running VMs all damn day.

Also, if you need Windows keys check this site.

Also, have you tried Stellaris?

Yea I had Stellaris on Xbox didn’t play it much but had layers

Thoughts on the monitor so far?

I took that shit back and ordered one of these from amazon:

The best buy one was not trash but it wasn't worth the money. Also after a few days it would do this weird flicker thing whenever I came out of sleep. Also the local dimming was really obvious when doing something like moving the cursor on a dark screen in a dark room. I don't know if I got a bad one or what but the innocn is incredible so far for both gaming and staring at code.

What should I look for in a good monitor?

I want one with at at least 30" as well as a curved widescreen
Depends on what you want.

I'd suggest you check out the Monitors Unboxed channel, just to get a better idea of what is currently out there.

One thing to keep in mind is bigger isn't necessarily better. Also as much as Amazon sucks... you can always send that motherfucker back with them no questions asked. When I got the best buy one they tried to play me like I was a scammer when it was them that sold me the shady monitor.

How is the 27GN850-B? I almost pulled the trigger on it last weekend.

It’s a great monitor, I bought because hardware unboxed had it in 10 monitors for that year and it was on sale at bestbuy.

The 950-B is the newest upgraded version

I'm not expecting oled level blacks, but what is the contrast like?

Lol, and weird question, but how prominent is the red on the stand?

I'm tellin you, when I went from 16 to 32GB of RAM on my gaming laptop there was a noticable difference in just my day to day stuff. I ain't even including the VM's. The more memory you have, the more Windows consumes on the low but that's always been the case, but you also end up with more left for your processes.

If I were building a new Win10 or 11 machine, it would have no less than 32GB.
