When did the standard become "do it if it won't kill you"? If we should let them identify at they choose, why can't we also identify them how we choose?

The problem isn't wanting to identify one way. Its that they're pushing to force people to play along with their mental condition as if it were reality. Like, I need to say men can give birth now because, like you pointed out, a tiny sliver of the population has a mental condition? I need to refer to myself as cisgender because of a tiny sliver of the population? I need to put pronouns in my email signature because of a tiny sliver of the population?

You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you want to be a dick and ignore their wishes that's on you. But if I hear that these people have hard lives because of their condition and something simple like respecting their wishes can do a lot for their mental states and lives, I can do that. It doesn't hurt me, so why the fuck not. I'm not being forced to do it. I'm doing it because I'm not an asshole.

I'll call Darrell Darlene but the minute Darlene asks my pronouns and call me cis "she" is now being disrespectful to me

I'm not going to let them project onto me so they can feel more comfortable. Now im uncomfortable

Its like a gang bangers asking squares what set they claim knowing damn well they're not bangers, just to have a reason to start conflict

That's fine bruh. I don't have a problem with that stance. If you at least trying to respect people and meet them halfway then that's good enough.

You're stuck in the past. Legislation, and liberal pressure, is forcing it. People lose their jobs over "misgendering". It's not just a courtesy thing, and pretending it stops there is naive.

I'm not stuck anywhere. I didn't say I was ok with people losing their jobs over that. But you're being disingenuous if you're acting all that stuff didn't come in response to the fact that hateful conservatives and people like them haven't been on attack mode when it comes to trans people.
