I'm not talking about having leaders. I'm talking about this idea that women are always secondary to men or something as trivial as a image of a woman in front of a man being disrespectful are not really African concepts.

And most African leaders adopted Islam and to some extent Christianity to open relations with Muslim and Christian groups respectively, so I guess you could say they weren't genuine with their beliefs.
You are both right and kinda wrong.
Dont underestimate imagery

15 pages about why a nigga who wears skirts and dresses, calls himself "lord pretty flacko" and silk presses his hair is taking a backseat to rihanna....

Who gives af. Whatever your definition of a man is or gender roles, these are not the ppl to hang that hat on. Rihanna and/or Vogue didnt turn asap into whatever yall are negatively attaching to this cover. He already was that. Always was. Effeminate niggas exist. Who cares.

He has an agenda
No agenda. But let me ask you a question. We can all agree about the bs the right wing conservatives do and say right? We can call out the slick stuff they do right? But when I call out what the left wing liberals do now I’m a “hOtEp1!1!” and I’m wrong? What does that say about y’all?

You just running with anything now supporting your wife is not manly?
It's kinda weird that so many so-called pro-black dudes be pushing this western patriarchal thinking. Many of the tribes that we descend from had some form of power sharing between men and women and certainly weren't steeped in this "women always behind" type thinking.

Because these guys don’t read and they still lowkey admire the European way.

I think because conservatives are seen as just that, enigmatic on the part If them doing things people feel are too rigid. Too stiff and old school. While liberalism leans on the people’s desire to be so called ever changing, so that’s seen as more respectful and better.

Plus people don’t really like to respect the intellect of black men. That’s why I said, I hated how our perception was altered. There’s no secret that there is a correlation between our image of leadership, our communities, and the fact that there are so many black head coaches in these major sports leagues that can’t get a gig. It’s because they don’t respect our intellect. BM are seen as emotional, nonsensical, ill-equipped leaders in the black community. So the other men in the world say if they’re not even good enough to keep their communities in shape, why should we trust them with $1 billion franchise?

You also look at what’s going on with the Khalid Muhammad‘s, Martin Luther King‘s, Malcolm X’s of the world and how the media knew that a lot of those brothers was making sense? So it made more sense to bring out guys like preacher from Dont be a menace From South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood or Oswald Bates from in living color. To make black men look and sound like rambling idiots. Not to say that we all are perfect, but the attempt was there and it pretty much worked.

Because it’s the most basic surface level shit that you attempt to make deeper. A man standing behind his woman in your eyes is weak because you’re viewing women as almost a servant to men. Y’all hoteps want something different and that’s cool. But you can’t be mad at us cause we not seeing what you see?

Quoted this wrong meant 5th letter

Well said bro…

There’s nothing wrong with supporting your wife. No one implied that.

But I’m saying because he is standing beside her on vogue and not next to her that enough for you to attach all this hidden meaning to it? Is the pose not manly enough for you? Holding his child and nurturing and protecting your kid in your eyes is not what going on here

I get why you don’t see the problem and that’s okay. Trust and believe me they know what they’re doing this was not coincidental. Iykyk….

Anyway this does give me an idea for a thread. Like how do fathers with daughters view this? Like do you think a woman should always be submissive? @TheNightKing @AP2.5 @Big Lurko @CAP 3.0 i know it’s like 5 others in here
I think people should do what is best for their situation. I want my daughter to feel supported by her partner and likewise, I want her to support them.

While I also subscribe to the idea of symbolism, I don't subscribe that every single thing is some well thought out calculated move made in the depths of some dark room.

I feel very confident that the image was run by both Rhi and ASAP and both of them gave the green light.

But let's say it wasn't, I just don't look at that pic and come up with the things that others have

Word cuz I see folks say women don’t submit men aren’t men etc. But as dads we get submission in adult relationships is needed by both parties and it’s not always this negative connotation. And don’t link with someone trying to fit roles you’re not ready for. Like this pic I have no issue with because it does not scream she is the leader and he a follower.
