Russia Declares War on Ukraine

Nah, he’s at war. He needs to look like his people right now. I respect the hell out of the move. Like, fuck all the pomp and circumstance, we’re fighting for our lives, I don’t have time to get all gussied up to impress y’all. Give me the money and I’m going back to the fight.
But he s not in the theater
Soldiers don’t even adhere to that logic

Not in the US. Ukraine may operate differently though.

I’d prefer a leader that dressed like they were fighting for their lives when visiting other countries. Soldiers should feel like they can relate to their leaders. That’s probably why so many Ukrainians are fighting loyally and actually winning an impossible fight.

i honestly still dont see what the US stands to gain by spending all of this money helping them. Sure it fucks Russia over but im just not seeing the play here

To me it seems like a way to fight Putin without starting WWIII. If the US fought him directly, a lot of countries would have to choose sides. This way countries can choose sides but only have 2 countries fight it out.

Plus, there’s probably a long game at play. If Russia just took over Ukraine, where does that stop? What message does that send? China taking Taiwan and Hong Kong? Russia taking over more countries. After while Russia and China and allies gain power and influence above the US and its allies? What kind of control could they then exert with the resources they control that we’re reliant on?

I don’t know if that’s why, just my initial thoughts.

It's a proxy war to curb Russians influence and to fracture their relationship with China.

I mean I guess... My whole thing is that money could be better spent at home.. Innovation, education, infrastructure... If we invested in that we wouldn't be so reliant on shit from overseas

We aren't reliant on stuff from overseas, at least not in the way you are suggesting. Example, we are currently throwing up the double middle fingers to Russia and doing it easily because we rolling in natural gas and oil over here. Them European mfers, on the other hand, have been slowrolling this shit for a grip because they NEED Russia.

America is top dog when it comes to higher education and, by extension, innovation. They've outsourced in the past because these CEOs greedy and don't want to pay nobody but that's not for high level shit, that's for manufacturing and stuff. Look at how with a stroke of a pen the government fucked up China's whole semiconductor industry. All the patents and tech and shit that go into the really high level shit is American so they told every company using it they can't sell to China. Them mfers are now scrambling to find a way to produce the really small chips required for high tech equipment. All the electronic design automation software used in those fabs is American. And what's crazy is now they just gave Intel, TSMC, etc. multiple billions of dollars to build fabs in America so now the actual manufacturing of the chips is being forced back stateside because the Government is afraid of China invading Taiwan (where the majority of the chips are manufactured now).

We damn sure need to be investing in our infrastructure. It's as much an economical problem as it is a national security one. Voters just blank out when people bring it up though because it's boring. That's why these politicians don't ever address it and spend all their time talking about unimportant shit that trends on Twitter.
