What's your logic for that view point?
I actually think the exact opposite. Sitting in a cell for 20 yrs surrounded by other horrible people, horrible food, being told when to sleep, shower, etc. all wondering when your exact death date and time is, is worse for those people than just getting it over with within a year of said conviction.
The best thing that comes out of your 1yr or less idea is that it would save tax payer dollars other than that it wouldn't serve as a deterrent for these mass shooters.

If you're alluding to mag capacity of an AK47 and the shooter having two more mags to dump, just remember 30 rounds is the standard cap on a few rifles plus you can get magazines in that size for many more.

You know, the problem with mass shooters isn't that there are too many of them. It's that they are all on the wrong side. They are always out here killing kids at schools or shooting innocent minorities just going about their business.
