Episode 1 is an instant classic,the kid with the free hugs sign was based on the real life kid who had that same sign and he was killed by his adoptive mother. And that was funny AF when the white person asked him is "Hugs" your uncle ? Like black people always have Free "someone" signs/shirts etc LOL.
 
Sometimes when I watch Atlanta it feels like I'm watching a great surreal or A24 movie.
Writers Jamal Olori, Stephen Glover Stefani Robinson, and Donald Glover have crafted a show with dark humor and sight gags but also sobering messages about racism and the obliviousness that comes with it. Also infusing real life tragedies while holding up a mirror to the incompetence of the Child Protective Services. The opening episodes of season 3 have been hard hitting with its own quirkiness and shock around its edges but in the end all rings true.

I feel like this and the boondocks are the two greatest black shows of all time
 
Van was wildin this episode lol. She pocketed one of those lil statues didnt she? I was rollin at her pushing random people in the pool not givin a single fuck.

Not mad at Earn and the British brotha getting over on the clueless white dude

Them folks gangin up on shorty at the end and Darius trying to wave her off like nah get the fuck outa here was fuckin hilarious

Yeah Van was wildin’, lol. There’s something deeper going on there that will surface later. She leaves the daughter back home to kick it with her baby daddy and his boys? Kind of strange. Then this behavior?

And didn’t they leave her? She wasn’t in that Sprinter at the end.

I was asking the same. Was wondering if she dipped before all that shit popped off or if they left her
