Real or no? Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for joking about Jada at the Oscars

This is also true. And if he did address it with Chris, I’d expect Will to be up on that stage as soon as he heard Jada’s name mentioned. The joke wouldn’t have even gotten out. Either way, I’d be fine with what he did.

But look at Chris. Does he look like a guy who’s been warned? He wasn’t expecting that. If Will addressed it at any point in the past Chris would have been ready to fight or fly soon as Will stood up.

Maybe he thought like most in that the Oscar stage was a safe place to make that joke. He's a comic and we all know at the end of the day they tend to be on the side of "anything I say on stage is ok because I'm saying it on stage". Then given it's the Oscars...he probably thought the last thing Will Smith would do is walk up and smack him.

I think it's unfair Chris Rock had to bear the brunt of being the latest member of the fuck around and find out club...but if societal norms push forward to the point that people realize you can't just say something somebody finds offensive and try to escape consequences by saying "I was joking" then that actually may do society more good than bad.

I read somewhere someone said this might end up being bad for comedians all over....People feeling offended(justified or not) by something a comedian says that they could just get up and do ish...and you know there are plenty of people that are stupid enough to think they can do what WIll did.

I still think Will was a clown in my opinion because u were laughing at first. Dont switch AFTER THE fact you laughed. I am all over "honoring your wife", and I do feel C.Rock shouldn't of made a joke out of her medical condition, but i think Will didn't handle it correctly.

Damn, you got me on this one because I’m a strong proponent of fuck around and find out. I don’t think it was warranted here, but if Rock has to be the sacrificial lamb what’s done is done.

I said it before in here Rock is literally one of my favorite comics of all time next to Carlin so if I were to be biased towards anyone it would be him. But I also know that comics are habitual line steppers and too many take pride in their ability to piss people off over actually being funny and I really dislike that type of comedy and that's where he's been headed the last couple years

So the history of Chris Rock making jokes in the past and Jada saying she don't like it doesn't factor in? You tell somebody to stop doing some shit and they keep doing it and you react...now that reaction comes from nowhere?
Using your post…..would you google chuckle or smile once someone did that to your lady after it was said to cut it out?

Comedians been getting in fights at shows for years so all this might change shit for comedians is just some reactionary bullshit talking point.

Corey Holcomb got into a fight at the DC Improv some years ago. He no longer gets booked there to do shows. He now either comes with a big tour which is held at a bigger venue or works at another local comedy club in DC.

Comedians and fans fighting ain't nothing new. What's new is now there are videos of it that can and have gone viral.

Listening to my wyte coworkers chime in this hilarious.

One mentioned how the joke may have been distasteful...but Will had no right to slap Chris. Then goes on to say if it was anybody else...Will would've been arrested.

How you know they ever told Chris Rock that? You think he tunes into Jada’s podcasts and shit? Lol.

Now if they didn’t tell him that, I’d have smoke for Chris as soon as he said my wife’s name. The joke wouldn’t have got out.
It’s really that simple.
defend your wife at all costs . And that means no hesitation, no room for allowing her to give me a look.
not Sure why dudes think something more is being said. We would all defend our lady and I am almost sure none of us here except a few would take this serious enough to had been prepared.
