I never really understood why people bring this up like it's a big deal. The Mercator projection was used for navigational purposes. I'm sure not everyone knows that, but I don't think the history of race relations has anything to do with how big people thought the continents of origin were.

It’s plenty of website that shows the true size of a lot of places

For the longest I though Japan was small but it’s really big

I'm surprised by how big Japan is, but I guess I shouldn't be. They are a rival to China. It would be hard for them to be the size of Hawaii and have that kinda status.
