Welcome To aBlackWeb

Uhhhh oh.......Dave done pissed off the mafia

Lol I always thought top right was a fishing tool by Netflix and the feds. It was way too wtf
I remember the hoopla
I can't een remember scrolling pass that shit on netflix, never seen it never searched for it. Shit sounded crazy fr

More importantly though, @GNS How you know what her titties look like?
I have no idea what you're talking bout slime

My comment isn't nuanced like this response, its broad for sure.

Its the bottom line

Its "at the end of the day"

The point is white men who already control the world are now pulling this shit

Trans demand to be recognized as something they are not. They will disrupt the world to have their demands met. Furthermore they want to re-identifiy the rest of us by using pronouns. These are traits of white supremacy
Got you

Has anyone actually read the list of "demands" from that walk out? Neither taking down the special or a meeting with Chapelle is in there. Where did the story about requesting a meeting originate?

Why do these people act like they are 50% of the population? I understand asking for representation at the company. It actually sounds like they already have plenty of that. But demanding about a fund specifically for trans people is a little much.

The demands:

The Trans* Employee Resource Group, which includes trans and

non-binary colleagues as well as our numerous allies, wants Netflix to immediately take

the steps below to begin to repair the relationship between the Company, our

colleagues, and our audience. Specifically, we want the Company to adopt measures

in the areas of Content Investment, Employee Relations and Safety, and Harm

Reduction, all of which are necessary to avoid future instances of platforming

transphobia and hate speech, and to account for the harm we have caused and will

continue to cause until the below measures are put in place.

Content Investment

  • Create a new fund to specifically develop trans and non-binary talent
○ This fund should support both above-the-line (ATL) and below-the-line

(BTL) talent;

○ This fund should exist in addition to the existing Creative Equity Fund;

  • Increase investment in trans and non-binary content on Netflix comparable to
our total investment in transphobic content, including marketing and

promotion;

  • Invest in multiple trans creators to make both scripted and unscripted programs
across genres;

  • Revise internal processes on commissioning and releasing potential harmful
(“sensitive”) content, including but not limited to involving parties who are a

part of the subject community and can speak to potential harm, or consulting

with 3rd party experts/vendors;

  • Increase the ERG role in conversations around potentially harmful content and
ensure we have best in class regional support on complicated intersectional

diversity issues;

  • Hire trans and non-binary content executives, especially BIPOC, in leading
positions;

Employee Relations and Safety

  • Recruit trans people, especially BIPOC, for leadership roles in the company
(Director, VP, etc.) and promote an inclusive environment for them;

  • Allow employees to remove themselves from previous company promotional
content (e.g. allyship and diversity videos, etc.);

  • Eliminate references/imagery of transphobic titles or talent inside of the
workplace, including but not limited to murals, posters, room names, swag;

Harm Reduction

  • Acknowledge the harm and Netflix’s responsibility for this harm from
transphobic content, and in particular harm to the Black trans community;

  • Add a disclaimer before transphobic titles that specifically flag transphobic
language, misogyny, homophobia, hate speech, etc. as required;

  • Boost promotion for Disclosure and other trans-affirming titles in the platform;
  • Suggest trans-affirming content alongside and after content flagged as
anti-trans.

We are employees, but we are members, too. We believe that this Company can and

must do better in our quest to entertain the world, and that the way forward must

include more diverse voices in order to avoid causing more harm. The Trans* ERG

looks forward to working with the Company to make this a better, more entertaining

place for us all.

Sincerely-

Trans* Netflix

I'd like to know this, as well.

Was it word of mouth and got out?

Was it in an original list of demands and subsequently omitted?

Adding a disclaimer on Netflix content might be the easiest ask for them. Problem would be where to place it. Right before a show/movie starts there’s that little red box in the top left that gives the rating and whatnot but if you start adding all of that the box is gonna be huge

Probably some shit somebody started on social media and others ran with it as fact without actually checking the source. It's easy to get people going about lgbtq topics. As easily as people say that lgbtq people get riled up others get just as easily duped on any story involving them.. Shit just last week I saw tweets and an actual article written because somebody took a joke about Michael Myers being homophobic seriously and spread it around like people were serious.

The want the disclaimer to say transphobic. That's a no go. Cuz its a lie

i though the black trans women that made all the racial comments about Asian folks said they wanted to meet with Dave

It was never stated that Netflix employees demanded that the special be removed...it was that other organization

So basically, group called for the special to be pulled and some people grouped that in with the Netflix employee demands and want to pretend that someone never called for it to be pulled because:

"It's easy to get people going about lgbtq topics. As easily as people say that lgbtq people get riled up others get just as easily duped on any story involving them.."

The narrative being pushed is that Netflix employees asked for it to be pulled. That's not true. Nobody is pretending that the special being pulled was never asked but it's being told as if it came from Netflix employees when it's not and that's a pretty important part of the story and how what they're actually asking for is being spun.
