You're talking to me about morals when I'm talking to you about understanding and comprehension. You can't have the former without the latter.

Threads like this are saying in essence: "A comedian is only funny when they deliver their comedy in a way that I find comedic as well as articulating a message that I agree with. But when their subject matter or delivery is no longer to my liking, I'm going to pretend that their goal was never comedy to begin with."

That is disingenuous, intellectually dishonest, willfully ignorant, and emotional at best.

But the crucial part about being a comedian is, no one should be expected to take your words seriously while you are performing. Even you pointing out the fact that he didn't contextualize is you projecting your own expectations onto his show. But he doesn't have to contextualize or clarify shit because he is, at the end of the day, a career comedian. I used to look at it the way you do until I heard enough of the greatest comedians I enjoy echo the same sentiment I'm expressing, which is that a comedian has to be allowed the opportunity to try to see what works or what doesn't work. It's not about what the audience agrees with, it's the execution of the person with the microphone. But just because YOU think it isn't funny doesn't give you the right to judge that comedian's character..if a surgeon makes a mistake and the patient dies, no one calls them a murderer or promoter of death. Paul Mooney, George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Katt Williams, Patrice O'Neal, etc have all said the same thing.

I'm insisting that the public not try to lynch a comedian for being a comedian.

You are insisting that he wasn't joking because of everyone's reaction in the room, therefore he is actively promoting rape. But by that measuring stick, everytime a comedian says something people don't laugh at, whatever they said is officially a mandate that they wholeheartedly and literally stand for.

I never said what he said was right, righteous, or reasonable. I said it doesn't matter whether what he said was right or wrong, only that it should be recognized as the words of a comedian who is sitting in front of cameras and microphones.

The internet is the only place on Earth where people will demand and ignore context at the same time. You get to watch a recording of something, ignore the context in which it occurred, and judge it based on how you are presently watching it instead of how, when, where, and why it occurred.

Corey tries and fails to be profound like zo but zo actually has substance. Corey just a dude that be bullshitting on a mic. Most times it dont hit and sometimes it do, but it's all bullshit. I dont watch either anymore but, between the two, I'd rather watch zo.

I can make a declaration without using the word "declare", you didn't have to say it was "right" or "reasonable" for you to imply it.
