2021 NFL Offseason Thread

Does Bama get their pick at top players?

It's still the NFL. There's cap space and roster limits.

Having a sorta Draft free agency isn't gonna make KC sign the top 2-3 QB's in this draft when they already have Mahomes. lol C'mon bruh

But what having a free agency draft might do is allow your boy Chase to sign w/ a KC, GB, Seahawks, or Bills etc. Organizations that are good and have good QB's. Where he'll be no worst than the #2 WR. Instead of getting drafted by a Lions team that's been a bad organization and have a mediocre QB situation.

And if a NFL team get it rolling the same will happen.
Depth charts are still a thing
Roster limits are still a thing
The cap is still a thing

these things do not go away b/c you remove the draft

like why would a team sign the best 3 qbs at the top of the draft?

It is in college too.

Besides cap

LMAO, i swear i didnt see your post before i made mine

HAHAAHA

And this is bigger than just QB so that’s a horrible example.
no its not. you being stubborn

top 3 kickers
top 3 linebackers
top 3 punters
top 3 running backs

it literally does not matter b/c fit and scheme are still heavily weighed more in football than BPA. A team like the saints more often than not drafts BPA. Not every team can do that and usually take the best player at the position of need that's available for them

also, on the nfl team, you not just gonna get rid of all your veterans to save a dollar. You wouldnt win ANY games or even be competitive with team full of rookies at each position b/c you wanna be cheap

ok...in college, do they recruit the top 3 qb prospects in the nation in each recruiting class?
Yes nigga lmao

Its just the kids at that position usually dont go because you can only play one QB

So if Bama gets the #2 guy in the class chances are #1 and #3 will go somewhere else

With every other position its different because you play multiple RBs, WR, TEs, LBs etc

BDP, so using LSU as an example...they are going to actively recruit the top 3 qbs at the exact same time to play for them? I'm talking the same number of visits, calls, etc... Is this your position before I go on.

Yes..just like they actively recruit the top guys at the same time for any other position

ok, i know you more plugged into this kinda stuff than I am. I personally think that's dumb and a waste of limited resources you have when it comes to recruiting but I'm not gonna say you're wrong b/c im not that versed in recruiting on that level

however, i still contend that for the nfl, it would make no sense to do that at all.

I know a professional version of “recruiting” would look different because there is (legit) money involved among other factors

but specifically to college recruiting...you fuckin right they recruit the top 5 players at each position at the same time....

Teams like Bama and LSU dont have limited resources and its not necesarily a waste of time cause you arent the only team that is recruiting that guy and others...AND when it comes to the Bama there is really only a handfull of teams that can compete and its reflected in who you see in the CFP every year

they do have a scholly limit that in my opinion isnt low enough

as I appreciate it, it was my understanding that to keep the illusion of a recruiting balance, they could only dedicate a finite number of resources for recruiting. Again, im not trying to argue the point about college as its definitely not my wheelhouse and im not ashamed to admit that, however, my larger point was mainly why this wouldnt be good for an NFL team to do this if the draft was removed. It would make absolutely no sense for a myriad of reasons, so Dwayne's fear that this would present a competitive imbalance wouldnt be the case.

The top QBs in this draft

Why not tank with Teddy this season and get one of the top QBs in 2022? That way they give up no capital at all and get who they want next year.

I what you're saying just don't agree 100% with your take on it.

@AP2.0 keep referring to QBs? Why?

the chiefs just lost their top top tackles. If I’m the best RT or LT I would go straight to them. they just lost a WR too. So I’m im chase. I’m not going to a team that wasn’t that good the year before. I’m going to play with mahomes.

And the chiefs would just keep on ticking.

Another example. The Saints just lost Brees and still have a loaded roster.

If I’m Trevor Lawrence I’ll sign with NOLA and have an
Offense of genius and play make up all over the field.

that would leave good teams good and teams that was bad stay bad.

Bad teams would stay bad for long ass time.
