OPINION Foundational/FBA/ADOS vs. Black Immigrants

Were Africans and Jamaicans offended at movies like Coming to America and Cool Runnings?

Oh so we painting with a broad brush just like ic does. I guess all black
Americans think the same. Let’s not turn this into the same shit y’all just complained about
Lol it’s the premise of this very thread..... u see why threads like these are idiotic as fuck

It would really help the conversation if people only spoke for themselves. Because that's truly who you are speaking for. Leave "we" and "us" out of statements that should contain "I" and "me".

You’re Jamaican?

If not. It’s not your culture.

And stop thinking everybody trying to steal black culture.

Y’all need to live better
Our culture is being stolen.

and by ours I am speaking on black Americans .....that does not mean I can’t see shit happening to another culture.

we are all too inclusive.
Open ya eyes

Explain in detail how Adele was stealing Jamaican culture.
It always starts with
Oh I’m dating a
Or
It’s a celebration

what you are trying to do is overlook small shit.

but you got it. I know what I see and know what I see around this world.

just not interested in selling you on what what’s In front of you.

It ain't everybody but when the dominant society can re-write history and control the narrative of other people and their culture. Shit gets stolen and the origins of things are up for debate if people the shit was stolen from or their history being re-written don't speak up about it even if its some slight shit.

I am black Jamaican immigrant and gave no fucks abt Adele. Most of us embraced it. These same folks don't have a problem with their women straightening their hair and getting blonde weave and killing themselves for these white owned Burkins and red bottoms but hating on Adele.

Also a lot of people is arrogantly ignoring the power of Jamaican culture globally.

Adele isn't influenced by her boyfriend she influenced because she grew up in London which is heavily influenced by Jamaican culture. Jamaica influence and impact around the world can't be ignored let's remember the music was declared by the UN as a global treasure

"Reggae is uniquely Jamaican," said Olivia Grange, the Caribbean island nation's culture minister, before the vote. "It is a music that we have created that has penetrated all corners of the world."

you are attacking people who would like to look out for other black people.

jamaicans can do what they feel but some of us would like to protect all black people.

so your snipe at black women wasnt needed.

Your missing my point clearly calm your tone.

Jamaican culture is global and it's Jamaican it's not getting stolen because it's that powerful it's globally recognised and identified. Tom hanks son isn't walking around stealing Jamaican culture he's walking around looking like a clown and everyone GLOBALLY recognises the culture and identity he's trying to be apart of.

I ain't Jamaican but I disagree with the bold only cause that's just not what I see where I'm at.

When Adele did whatever it is she did. Was she in London or in Jamaica?

You do realize that a lot of white people when they visit places they cloak themselves in native garb and hairstyles, etc. but before they get on that plane or boat to go back to their white countries they take all that shit off and never wear those clothes or hairstyles in their white countries.

It's a reason for that and it ain't cause they love and/or respect that black culture. Black peoples culture and lifestyles was all just fun and games for them for that moment.

It's a small island that's culturally one of the biggest countries in the world don't be disrespectful and act like the power of the culture is under threat

It was a Carnival. A celebration of Caribbean culture. In an area with a large Caribbean diaspora.
