I dunno. I feel if there is a significant portion of LGBT members then I would think they would be more open and have those specific topics already. This seems all good intentions but knowing people it could easily get to hurt feelings, accusations, making light of touchy subjects... I’m just saying. What is the right way to go about it? I’d like to hear from people of that community opinion, but I don’t know who any of them are here. I’m sure there’s a reason for that if there is.
 
If the owners are principled about inclusivity and want that presence here, go ahead with it. For all we know gay posters already been discussing this in DMs.

Maybe it pops off, maybe it dies in inactivity. Doesn't hurt to try either way.

The way I see it is gay ppl here aren't going to bother posting gay topics in general sections. That's just begging for abuse. Too many ignorants here. A distinct section for them puts up a contained boundary. Ignorant niggas are less likely to bother entering in the way they might feel compelled to get their troll on if a thread is smack dab in their favourite chill spots.

How do you know there will be scrutiny? You’re making a lot of excuses and I feel like you wouldn’t be making this many excuses for any other group of people.

Would you be asking this if we decided to make a woman section, if there currently wasn’t one?

Or does it need to be a need currently because it’s for the gays?

I don't think this thread is going as you expected.


This doesn't seem like a thread about..........."upcoming changes"..........to ABW.


It's seems to be more of a thread about painting a narrative about how you think people feel about the LGBT community.


Otherwise, you wouldn't dismiss legitimate concerns as being homophobic or intolerant of their lifestyle.


Granted, there have been some jokes here and there...........but most of us are just wondering where this is coming from.

I'm not naive and I know there's some closet gays amongst us and I'm sure they know the climate of this site. It's not my cup of tea and I wish em the best on the internet and in real life... sincerely. Me personally, I just wanna know if I make a Dave Chappelle like joke, that offense won't be taken and I get banned because they drifted out of their home and into other parts of the site because we all know you gotta have thick skin around here

Well, if you're just looking for a name..........just keep it simple and call it the LGBTQ section.


Just know that, regardless of what your intentions were for this thread, the concerns being made here should be taken seriously.

Fact is there is a number of posters here that are a part of that community. There's no reason to say who, cuz it's none of Y'ALL fucking business. But they have reached out in regards to doing something site wide that's gay friendly.

I mean we could have done some pride shit during pride week, but why just do a week... We figured we'd do a whole section.

But I.... Said y'all niggaz not ready for that.

A gay section could be a safe space for them, with the caveat being after having outed themselves there they will get called out/insulted for it by some posters once they venture out to other sections of the forum.

the follow up response is either:

mods willing to put their foot down on that stuff. Afterall, we can have fun here without being overly toxic.

Or

These gay posters deal with the inevitable hate by either staying in their spot, or post as usual in general sections and face their abuse. No need for that to happen.

This won't be the shitshow for the integrity of the site ppl are claiming it'll be. At most, words will be tossed, feelings will get hurt, ppl will get bans. If the experiment is pursued and approached in the right way, ppl will learn the significance of the word "consequences" and they'll get their asses in line. My guess is the section falls into obscurity. But u never know until u try.
