My avi is of Benhazin Hossu Bowelle. Benhanzin Hossu Bowelle was the last West African king of the 19th century, and fought fiercely for the freedom of Dahomey (present day Benin) against French colonists. Born in 1844 under the birth name Kondo, Bowelle was the son of King Glegle, the 10th king of Dahomey, and was raised in the capital Abomey to succeed his father. Bowelle was known for his tenacity, and was called “King Shark” and “Egg of the World”, represented by his personal symbols: the shark, two crossed palm trees, and the egg

I'm going to post this on George Washington Carver. I know he's one of the names that gets thrown around more than others for Black History Month. The thing is people usually get his accomplishments wrong. lol He's often credited with creating peanut butter, which ironically, is one of the few peanut related things he didn't do.

This is one of the more important things to note:

In 1921, Carver appeared before the Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of the peanut industry, which was seeking tariff protection. Though his testimony did not begin well, he described the wide range of products that could be made from peanuts, which not only earned him a standing ovation but also convinced the committee to approve a high protected tariff for the common legume.

Dude was such an authority that white farmers basically went to him and begged him to advocate for the industry in front of Congress. Who in the hell gets a standing ovation from Congress? That must have been one hell of a speech.
