Chris Evans Returning to Marvel As Captain America

Chris Evans is reportedly returning to the role of Captain America after he was largely thought to be finished with it after Avengers: Endgame. The actor is in talks with Marvel Studios to finish a deal which would see him suit up once again. It is unknown whether or not the deal between Evans and Marvel Studios has closed, yet. Evans is expected to return in at least one Marvel property with the deal leaving thee door open for him to appear in another movie later. The report points to Evans reprising the role in a supporting capacity, not a standalone Captain Ameroica movie, in the vein of how Robert Downey Jr. played Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel has not commented on Evans returning to the role.

Evans had previously indicated he was finished playing Captain America after the character's arc had seemingly been fulfilled by the end of Avengers: Endgame. "It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion. It was such a good experience and I think it's better left that way," Evans said in May. In his last appearance, Evans portrayed a version of Captain America who was handing over shield (and mantle) to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson. Mackie brings Sam Wilson to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+ in March, a production which has already wrapped.

How Captain America and Evans will fit into the sprawling Marvel Studios and Marvel Cinematic Universe puzzle remains to be seen. The studios has dozens of projects hitting movie theaters and Disney+ as shows in the next few years. Steve Rogers was last seen alive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking a journey through time to return the Infinity Stones to where the Avengers obtained them and electing to stay in the past to live a life with his love Peggy Carter. Evans could play a version of Cap which travels back to the present time or a version of Cap who is living in the past and needed to protect the world.

He not getting the gigs he thought he would when he was done, lol.

If they build towards x-men vs avengers and we get this on screen

I'll humbly recant my statements about them not building to another high on the level of infinity war

I don't know if they could pull that off honestly. Unless they change course, it kinda seems like they are going to be steadily transitioning characters in and out. That means that they probably aren't going to establish the kinda long running dynamics to make XvA work. I mean look at how many movies it took for them to get a believable Civil War. I don't see putting that much effort into Avengers team building again. It's going to pretty much be plug and play from here on out.

Whole reasoning for my initial stance on them not repeating.... But I can still wish

Best part in that whole series
Last major marvel arc I read... Got goosebumps thinking about it ever being on the big screen
