Not sure if this should be a separate thread but i've been thinking lately... what does "holding them accountable" after an election look like?

Elections of course are a time to lay out what it's gonna take in order to get your vote... but how do black folks specifically hold politicians accountable with the knowledge that Dems think they can get our vote without putting too much work in since voting Republican isnt really an option?

What does that accountability look like? Calling up representatives and continuing to apply pressure well after elections? What leverage can we use?

For me, Hillary losing in 2016 was holding them accountable. They didn't have the numbers because we (black Americans) withheld the vote

We lucked up and fucked the ENTIRE country and not just us with Trump being elected. Could have turned out waaaaay worse imo.

I wouldnt want us to hold out again but if that what it takes that's what it takes.

Witholding the vote being the only option or leverage is bothersome to me.

I mean im sure we could weather the storm to make a point... we have weathered far worse in the past but damn... that cant be the only option

I agree but being the minority, being all of different minds and wanting different things....

I'm a be honest, the greatest thing I saw lately was blacking out our dollars. I dont think alone we gonna be able to move the needle but when we push ppl/companies who rely on our money to help speak with us we get things moved. Whether that's rioting, shutting down major shopping areas or simply not spending with them, that gets shit done!

But niggas like buying shit and showing off. Voting leverage helps us get a Biden/Harris/POC/Minority candidate at the front, who should be pushing equality to the front
