“buying the block”

Yall.

Black-owned gentrification is still gentrification. Black-owned prisons are still prisons.

"Black-owned" isn't a cure-all. it isn't some balm for oppressive structures.

Black capitalism is still capitalism. it is still the violent mechanism that places profit over the people. it is still an apparatus of state violence.

what's a better alternative than capitalism for black people?

"... See, what Marx is saying is that the oppression of the proletariat is an essential facet of the exploitation inherent in the system..." <<---- @Race Jones talking to folks at the ABW cookout.

I saw a shit load of spots in Detroit I want. Mad cheap. Hopefully it’s still that way when I stop thru

I just read the stipulations for buying a house from the Detroit Land Bank Authority.

They full of shit.

Houses for $1000 BUT...
You have to show the authority that immediately after closing you can start the rehab, this means receipts for materials and everything.
You have 6 months to get it 100% done. This includes all inspections to show that it's up to code as well as an inspection by the authority.
At the end of the 6 months, you're required to move into the home OR have a renter in place.

If it ain't done, you lose the property and every dime you put into it.

Fuck that.

Thus I can understand...

They do this banking in the fact the black people who want it can't afford it. Or afford the 6month rehab.

I can do it......I think you mentioned this to me before. We need to form a group .....A syndication or something.

I dealt with that punk ass lans authority years ago. Put an offer in, was supposed to be notified within 90 days if it was accepted or not

6 months later, after calling damn near everyday to check the status, they finally send me a letter that my bid was accepted. By that time I'd bought my current house and we just had a baby so the investment property wasn't a priority.

That land bank crooked af. The feds investigated it a while back. Basically all the catches were put in place so that corporations could come in and get the land they wanted i.e. mid town.

We building our new home now and will sell this one. Once we move Im jumping back in with my eyes set on Mack/Van Dyke area and 7mile woodward area.

You know you "West side is the best side" when you said 7 mile and Woodward and all I thought of was Palmer Woods, as if anything past Woodward don't even count.

One of the homies used to own the gas station right there at 7 and Woodward. Lebanese cat known as "Big Joe".

^^^ Big Joe is all through that documentary.

Well why should they have to register the homes for section 8 though?

Honestly niggas seem to have attitude like their allergic to or scared of money or some shit. The concept of a communist or socialist system may sound appealing to some in theory, but the actual reality of it would be much more ugly.

You have black people with money making smart investments increasing ownership in community and even that's an issue. Yeah you could claim some may be overpricing properties but that would be shooting self in foot essentially.

Black owned isn't a cure all but it's damn sure a start. All gentrification is not a bad thing it almost seems like people would rather maintain the poverty and desolation in an area so those suffering can remain. When does the bar get raised and neighborhood improved?

This same means of buying and flipping homes in the hood is how many have gotten out of the hood. I've witnessed it.

And capitalism is not the issue corruption is. I don't need anybody telling me how much money I can make and what I can do with my wealth and resources. It's give and take, if you want socialism or communism you want you gonna have to sacrifice much of your freedoms.

Lol. Yeah there's a whole grimey ass world beyone 7 and woodward.

I used to be at that gas station all the time. Almost put the beats on one of them lemme pump yo gas ass niggas for gettin too close.

Used to hit up Ditch girl damn near every morning on the way to Pershing. Used to get hooked up too. We'd pay for like 5 or 6 donut holes amd they'd give us almost a whole bag. I was sneak robbin my stepfathers coin stash so I stayed with snack money. Nigga had hundreds of dollars in change.

Man good times.

I’m not even talking about black nations specifically. Of all the nations with an alternative system to capitalism, who is the most ideal example?
Ireland is the best example of how a gov should operate. But the majority of America issues come from its citizens and not its gov. Most of americans politicians either follow public opinion or corporations. Its america belief that if you tax someone making 400k, that the person affected would rather fire them than take the L. Which may be true but the programs created by that tax would help someone sustain their lifestyle while searching for gainful employment and would offset that temporary thing. But try convincing people who believe they should be mules for the rich that they deserve more than that.

At my job I get old white men calling in about shit and complain that cpus and the internet make things too easy and they wanna go back to when things where hard. What rational person thinks like that.
