COMMUNITY Social Justice Thread: R.I.P. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor & now Tyre Nichols

I don't know what you and anybody else were watching but CNN and ABC had live coverage and I saw mostly white people destroying shit. At least 80 to 90 percent of the people causing the mayhem have been white and that has been mentioned numerous times.

CNN just showed a group being detained in LA. Probably 3 or 4 black people in that group of 30.
I was on CNN yesterday until midnight and they didnt mention the bow & arrow incident in salt lake at all.

Also no mention of man w sword in Dallas.

Past 2 nites basically no coverage of DC protest by WH.

They dont wanna show u when shit gets real

with all going on....please be sure to stay in touch with family.

its still people lurking behind the scenes trying to take advantage of the weaker people.

Please check on all women and kids in your family.
dont allow other abuses go unchecked while yall fighting for everyones freedoms.

dont allow other predators to prey.

It really is this easy..

This is what somebody posted under the tweet embedded and it rings so true.

A few folks on here seen this way before many started to realize but this whole shit got co-opted by a bunch of folks who really don't care about the original reason people were protesting. I venture to guess most of the people who co-opted the protesting don't care about black folks gripes with this country in general.

I understand that people as a whole are frustrated about a myriad of things, but ultimately once all the protesting and stuff calms down the powers that be and all these so called "allies" are going to pass the blame to black folks for all this damage and unrest. These so called "allies" are going to be the same people that's going to go back to their neighborhoods, jobs, and lives that were unaffected.

I hope I'm wrong about all of what I just typed but I feel very little outside of maybe it being mandated that all future police brutality and murder cases be federally investigated by an independent entity that works swiftly is gonna come from this. I'm not down playing if that happens because that would be great but it's a ton of other stuff that the nefarious government and financial institutions push that harms black people as a whole that's gonna still get over looked.

this is troof.

this is why black businesses and black communities should not be touched.

this is about the govt and its support of fuckery.

when this shit calms down......i feel like alot of people will have to look to this very govt for help. this is why we need to look out for those that can help OUR communities.

because this shit will turn around on black people real fast.

i also feel this will be thrown in black people faces as too we dont need reparations and we cant bring up slavery anymore.

i dont trust none of this.

From what I've seen plenty of these protests ain't in black neighborhoods.

And speaking on the bolded it can't be a federal group that has oversight. It has to be a civilian group. Business owners, doctors, teachers, liquor inspectors, by-law inspectors, social workers, postal service workers, private investigators, etc people that touch the community everyday. They've proven they can't police themselves. Can't continue to let them.

We have a unit like this in Ontario, special investigations unit. Anytime someone is hurt involving police, anytime police fire their weapon SIU is dispatched. They can investigate and press charges against police fully independent of the police.

They have to think twice. It works.

Yall need to push for these types of oversight groups in your cities and states.

cornball shit

Cops need to be doing that shit for other cops that they know got the game fucked up to see. Try and change their hearts. Making the people in their communities feel safe. Not the other way around.

I understand what homie was trying to do but its completely misdirected and I'm tired of seeing it.

I didn't trust none of this shit either when I started seeing how "diverse" the crowds were in these other cities rioting. Of course you will always have folks from all walks of life who will stand against what they believe is wrong but this whole situation feels different. Why now after years and years of seeing this same type of stuff happening to our people that folks outside of our race decide to start rioting?

I understood that this shit wasn't just about police brutality and especially it being towards just black people when all the rioting started going down in these other cities. I get that the American people are tired of our current regime in office, or being quarantined, or etc.. But the media is pretty much telling this story In the light that Americans are tried of Black Lives not mattering. While I feel It's a lot of opportunists really taking advantage of a downtrodden people's situation by using the guise of solidarity.

Once again I hope I'm wrong with my thoughts but I have a feeling I'm not.

been hearing about mecklenburg.

hope your folk safe bruh.....

smdh

as much as i had beef with them dudes over in sugarcreek....i hope they chill over there. its not much there to begin with.

I kinda like the way you guys have it set up with the civilian group but they would have to heavily scrutinize who they let on that in this country. Lol.

By why retail shops? I mean in the grand scheme of things yeah they should do more in the communities they inhabit but burning down places where working class people frequent for supplies and actually stay gainfully employed hurts mostly the people being oppressed, right? I do applaud them in Los Angeles for fucking up Rodeo Drive and alot of the areas where they are fucking up the establishments that have to do with this actual cause like the police stations and court buildings though. If people really want to make a statement go protest outside these CEO's homes, the mayor's, governor's, police chiefs, police commissioner's, and judges homes!

But you are right though overall the rioting has been in more high profile places than usual which is good
