ESPN: The Last Dance ('98 Bulls Doc)

Stevie & Kareem both were child prodigies, both help kickstart their labels Stevie at Motown Kareem at UCLA. Both ran their industries until the new dudes took over. (Magic, Bird, Jordan- Jackson, Prince)
That all im saying. All the other stuff you are talking aboit is meh.

If you pay attention Kareem is falling behind Lebron so how can he be greater than MJ.
That’s public opinion by fans that aren’t even older than ME, let alone you.

I can’t take an opinion seriously from anyone that started watching basketball in 1994, and never even heard of Dr. J, Wilt, Kareem, or at least the Logo, Jerry West.

It’s like being in a frat. If you can’t tell me the founders of that frat, why should I take your comments on said frat seriously?

I'm talking about being a black star in white america.

Oh yeah, you right about that. Boston too, so you know how that goes.

I did watch. Very well done

I feel like Jordan is the greatest basketball player, including his skills talent and accomplishments and popularity. The word greatest is all encompassing

When we take away the accomplishments and numbers and talk pure ball I think lebron is the best basketball player of all time because imo he can do more basketball things at a higher level. Physically he's a freak, the ultimate facilitator, playmaker and can guard/play all 5 positions

Fair enough.

That's the same as you telling us about Kareem when you were only 7 or 8 when he retired. You said it yourself that you was born in '82. By that time the Lakers were run by Magic. In other words. When you started getting into basketball Magic had more final MVP's, more regular season MVP's and more first team all nba in the 80's (your nba introduction) . You should be worshipping Magic not Kareem.

And quit in Game 6 in the 08 Finals vs the Celtics when they got PASTED by damn near 40.

Quitting is not playing 42 mins and continuing to try to shoot your way back into the game down big. When they could’ve just conceded the game in that 4th quarter. Dude led the team in shots and points. Shot terribly but went out kicking.

He didn’t play well in game 6 08’ Finals. Quit? no. Suns series game 7 yeah, not 08.

The difference between me and them is I actually bother to do the research on players of the past: watching game films, reading about their careers, etc.

None of us saw Wilt in his prime, and know that he’s THE single most dominant athlete to ever play the game. Why? A good number of us have done our research on him.

That’s my biggest issue with this new generation of fans.

They say shit like, “I don’t count him as much cause I didn’t see him live.”

SO? If you’re a true student of something, you’ll learn about the greats that came before your day.

It’s true in all art forms and cultures, from music, to philosophy, to world leaders, to artists in all forms of expression: authors, poets, painters, sculptors, and architects. Basketball ain’t no different.

I can't argue with this at all. My only issue is when people say they study a player from youtube etc. I have to give the gas face bcuz there isn't too much footage of the older guys on film. Sure they have a few games and highlights here and there but that doesn't really tell the whole story. For example, the knock on Kareem has always been he will coast a bit on defense and cherry pick. You won't see this on highlights. You won't see that the center position was weak as hell in the 70's and early 80's. As a Sixers fan of that era I know that is the very reason why they kept losing in the finals. Why do you think they went out and got Moses? Without context, highlights and game footage doesnt tell the whole story.
One last time.

Kareem= Goat Career (High school and ncaa inluded)

Jordan= Goat Player

We'll have to agree to disagree on who the Goat is. Let's keep it movin'.

You watch ball?
stacking the deck is a false narrative y’all run with

How many finals has his team been the favorite.

I’ll wait

This is why I always felt like the Lebron hate about his finals record was bullshit. I honestly think there was only ONE time in the finals that he had the better team and lost. That was against Dallas.

Every. Single. Other. Time. they lost to a team that was better. And some of them years, they had no business at all in the Finals. The nigga dragged them there, kicking and screaming.

Now if we wanna say 'The GOAT would have found a way to win those series', even if the other team was better.', that's one thing. Maybe, maybe not. But people seem to think he somehow UNDERPERFORMED in those finals series, just because his team didn't win.

We can all appreciate how much a great player can determine things in the NBA. More than any other sport. But we also can go so far down that road that we forget that, sometimes...the other team is just better.

He should have won each time in Miami, people always giving this dude passes that no other player gets.
