There's atleast 40 groups that have had a bigger impact and overall better groups than The Roots.

Hip Hop Legend? As far as resumes, BT aint even a top 5 nigga in his city.

@Goldie

The Roots TRANSCEND Hip Hop.

You claim that there's, "at least 40 groups that have had a bigger impact and overall better groups than The Roots."

First of all, no there's not

Second of all, of those 40 groups, how many of them are just a Hip Hop group that made good music, and how many of them transcend the genre?

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5
Run DMC
NWA
Public Enemy
A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Bone Thugs
The Lox
Mobb Deep
Outkast

^^^ Those are 10 groups that DEFINE Hip Hop. In other words, if somebody didn't know what Hip Hop is, you could play those 10 artists Greatest Hits albums and you'd get a clear understanding of what Hip Hop is.

Furthermore, every single one of those groups outsold The Roots

But The Roots transcend that because they don't sample, they don't have a DJ, their MC is a top tier MC, as far as spitting is concerned. He might not be as good at making catchy hit singles, but that's not what The Roots do.

The Roots are a middle finger to all the people that looked down on rap music because "they don't play instruments". Not only do The Roots play instruments, but their MC is as good as it gets.

@Goldie you might be too young to remember, but in the 80s people said, "Rap isn't music"which was kinda true at the time. Especially when people started sampling. You'd have an album and every song is a sample. How is that music?

But The Roots came and saved the day. There's no more (White) people saying "Rap isn't music" because you can point to The Roots and say, "yeah it is".

@Elzo69Renaissance ....serious question bruh..

U kept dismissing @bootcheese3000 ‘s “transcending music by tha Roots” posts as “Nuttin’ new” , “heard it before” , “enh” but what have you heard that sounds like tha songs he posted?? And keep in mind tha album he posted those songs from is from 1995...so can you post these songs that were sounding like this from 94, 93, etc etc...and not a 1 off here and there types song either...but full albums??

Haven't I proven enough for my level of fuckery to never be questioned? Who df is scared to tag somebody on twitter? lol

It'll create more traction if more than just the person who made the tweet liked and tweeted the post....

I get it bruh I was just fuckin wicha lol.

Don't get it twisted tho... you will ALWAYS be questioned by somebody tho ma nigga lol

I ll answer this when I get home

lol niggas think I hate NAS (one of my top 5 favorite rappers of alltime), Redman, Cube, Lupe, etc. I'm a fan of all these niggas, but unlike 99% of the mfs on here, im not bias.

Nas is one of my favorite rappers, if he drops a wack album i have no problem saying it, most niggas can't do that. Mfs was calling NASIR a fuckin classic lol Real life stans on here.

I fuck with BT. But homie's not a Hiphop legend, maybe a philly legend, but not hiphop.

Yall keep saying "transcend" like that means anything to me. NERD transceds hiphop, there's alot of alternative rap groups, that doesn't mean they're legends. BT made no real impact, they didn't reshape the culture. Outkast reshaped the culture, Tribe reshaped the culture, these are fuckin legends. The Roots? fuck no.
