Sooooo...niggaz mad that he puttin’ out an album...AND he bout to do songs wit’ Jay??

:imsayin:

I’m befuddled...

S/N: Tha statute of limitations BEEN up on his “debut album” time frame...he was about to fuck around and let tha seed he had wit’ Badu put out an album before him...

If this premise for his debut was put out there ten years ago a lot more people would be less skeptic. Now tho... I dunno. I’m hoping for a great album.

He should've just recorded 10-15 songs and uploaded them

I don't think streaming was popular at the time. There was iTunes where you could download a song legally, or Kazaa where you could download illegally, but I don't think streaming services like Spotify existed at the time.

2020 Jay Z rhymes? Nah, I'm good...

I'll live with a Jay Z/ Jay Elect collab for a single to hype up the release but I want the rest of album to be Jay Elect dolo.

Didn't you like 444

I liked 4:44 ... but Jay's flow on that record was a bit awkward... at least to me... looked like he was just talking over some of the songs

But 'Black Effect' on the joint album with Beyonce probably one of favourite modern Jay songs ... who knew he was that pro-Black on wax?

I also liked 'We Made It' with Elect where he dissed Drake

Jay Z/Jay E collabs have all been fire so I’m cool with this. Doesn’t count as a debut album though I don’t think he’ll ever have one.

I still say Jay Electronica should just record 10-15 songs and upload them himself. At this point it would be easy to say that Roc Nation is in breech of contract by not releasing his music. I think anybody on a jury would agree that Roc Nation didn't hold up their end of the deal.

How so? Seems to me like they are letting this dude do whatever the fuck he wants. Pretty sure hov ain't over there asking this nigga to drop a top 40 single to get his streaming numbers up. He not that type of artist.

It just seems that they should have released his album 10 years ago.

Traditionally when your album is shelved there's nothing you could do about it. Back in the 80s and 90s it was expensive to mass produce CDs and have them shipped across the country/globe. But now, with streaming, if your album is shelved, for whatever reason, if you feel like your label is in breech of contract you can upload the music yourself and let the label take you to court.

Uploading an album to a distributer costs less than $100

What is there to be sus about? It ain’t like I said it’s gonna BE Only Built for a Cuban Linx. Niggas in here conflicted about whether it’s a debut album or not because Hov is on a bulk of the records yet he ain’t on all of it. So how does seeing it in the same format & composition as Rae’s debut album any different? Which is Rae with Ghost featured on a bulk of the record

Rap fans are the worst fans SMMFH

Niggas was mad they got no album out of him since like 2008. Now that he's dropping a joint collaboration album with Jay-Z it's "tHiS nIgGa mAkInG a CoLlAb AlBuM, iT dOnT cOuNt". Be grateful you even getting anything from this nigga - and Jay-Z at the same time SMMFH.

Let's hope it meets expectations.
I agree except the one important thing is it is not a collaboration album, it's simply Hov being on 7 or 8 songs

"Who cares if it's a jazz album, atleast we get music!!!"

Man shut the hell up. It's been over a decade of pump faking, of course there's gonna be a negative response after finding out it's not a solo project. Nigga's like Hov, Nas, Ye, etc can do collab/experiment projects until they're no longer with us because their legacy is cemented.

A nigga who's approaching 50, who has showed up glimpses of greatness but has never even produced one fuckin project, to niggas who really care about the genre, it's sad to watch. That's wasted potential going down the drain. It's like watching a nigga with the skills of Lebron waste it playing pick up basketball.

But go head and pump your poms poms.
