Same. There's too much bullshit to sift through so I don't check for people without a recommendation.
Yea it's a variety of diff reasons n that's one of em

I consider myself pretty open to trying new music but can feel disengaged quickly if it's the same typa bars I been hearing 10 years ago

But I understand a lot of it is for younger folks who have fresh ears n might be hearing certain content for the first time while it sound recycled to me

On the flip I fuck with Joey badass n Griselda bc of the vintage NYC sound it reminds me of at times

I can't call it anymore

Drop a list of some shit to check out

I know I got much lazier keeping up

They’re literally all over this site bruh lol...it really depends on ha style of music u like tho...check out tha underground thread in tha record store... @MoeW does a really good job of drop pin’ new releases too...peruse tha site fam lol

So as not to be an asshole I’ll name a few tho lol

-Of course anything Griselda ie Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn...they’ve been droppin’ heat for years but really starting to get that PUSH that they deserve

-38 Spesh, Elcamino, Eto, Flee Lord, Rome Streetz, Crimeapple and a few others give you that gritty street music if that’s ya pleasure (pause nh)

-Dreamville got Lute, J.I.D. and EarthGang out here bubbling as “newer artists”

-TDE got Reason as a newer artist and should be droppin’ projects from their “established” artists this year (fingers crossed lol)

-Skyzoo, Flatbush Zombies, Michael Christmas, Joey Bada$$, Mick Jenkins, Vince Staples are relatively new artists (10 years or less of exposure for tha most part) that put out good music

-Then you have tha mainstays like Styles, Rae, Ghostface, Game, Wale, Curren$y etc etc that drop albums

And I didn’t even mention established “mainstream” artists (K Dot, Cole, KRIT etc) or established “new artist” (YBN Cordae, Smoke Purp, Roddy Rich) who cause a more “popular stir” with new music

There’s literally summin’ for anybody when it comes to this hip-hop shit...y’all gotta stop bein’ lazy or stop complaining’ about “there no good music” anymore...that’s tha furthest thing from tha truth...

And I’m old and don’t even know how to innanet like that lmao

Preciate u takin the time bruh

It's a few names up there I never even heard of lol

That’s a for enough assessment of Cam...thought you might have appreciated Cams album since u said u used to be a Cam fan...I think he did a good job stayin’ true to that Cam sound...

As far as new artists/music tho...all I can say is GAAAAHDAMN G!! Lol...is ya google broke G?! Lmao...u do know there’s waaaaaay more new MC’s to check out than al those Lil’s u just named right?!?! Lol Sounds like to me you just depriving yaself from some good music and you’ve just given up on hip-hop cuz tha niggaz u named aren’t on my radar either but I still find really good music damn near daily to ride/vibe out to...

I feel him tho but I think youtube did it to us like it’s harder for me to get into newer artists. I just end up finding a few songs I like a skipping the rest

If you can’t find ANY new music/artists to rock wit’ you may have just outgrown hip-hop...and that’s really fine...to each his own....but for an “old head” hip-hop fan I’m perfectly content wit’ tha quality and quantity of rap music that still gets made...as a teen/early 20 yr old I used to go to tha record store EVERY Tuesday for tha new music drops...and it was rare that I didn’t leave wit’ summin’...wasn’t no streamin’ or no shit like that so if you didn’t like it you just erased it....nah...you buy that shit and it’s full’a duds welllll then you just had summin to break ya weed down on or u traded it as “used” for a couple of dollars and you bought summin’ else..around $18 a CD mind you...i stopped collecting CDs a few years ago wit at least 500+ CDs..and minus a few “thieving years” during my youth I paid for damn near all of’em.... I pay $6/month for Apple Music now for unlimited DL’s!! You lazy or you’ve just outgrown tha art if you can’t find some new shit to rock wit’...y’all niggaz literally post in’ on a site full of different musical tastes...opinions are everywhere...when I was some of you young niggaz ages wasn’t no way I could accept bein’ THIS musically washed smh lmaooo and I didn’t even have tha internet at my disposal!! I hustled, ran tha streets, fucked chicks and kept a job while stayin’ “in tha know” about this rap thing of OURS...and you young jits out here wit’ tha entire world 1 finger click away and y’all “can’t find no good music”...I’m disgusted :stare:

Aite...old head rant over...y’all enjoy ya Sunday

:hahaha:

You buggin’....Cam’s album wasn’t trash bruh

Serious question tho....Who do you listen to now fam?? Not some shit from a few years ago but something that has come out recently?? Just asking because maybe tha problem isn’t tha artist...maybe you’ve just outgrown hip-hop as a whole

You explained it perfectly.

You get to a certain age where the new stuff doesn't impress you.

The only albums I've really enjoyed over the past few years are 4:44, Damn and We Got It From Here.

Otherwise, I'd rather listen to older Hip Hop

And that’s ok...I honestly get it...I went thru that break up phase for a few years wit hip-hop in tha mid to late 2000’s...but we’ve since made up lol

I just think it’s equally important to know there’s a bunch of good shit out there too...

I'm still impressed for different reasons by new artists.

Of course you got kendrick and Cole,Schoolboy and the rest of TDE but they're not brand new.

But I fuck with Vince Staples,Travis Scott,JID,Cordae, some YBN Nahmir,NBA Young boy,Gangsta Gibbs,Earth gang,Mozzy,Nipsey, some Lil Baby,Cozz,of course Griselda and a lot of random shit I hear.

Don't wanna derail but the reason a lot of us have 'outgrown' modern rap is because hip hop jumped the shark years ago and it's mostly kinda wack now

I think part of the reason for that is the lack of sampling but also the fact that hip hop is the dominant form of music now. Back in the day there were so many different types of music in clubs and on the radio and all of that influenced mc's and producers and allowed everyone to have their own style and flavor.

Most of these rappers now are like copies of copies of copies of the same basic foundation.

Yup, and it's supposed to be that way. People have target markets. Some'll straight say it. Just watched a video where they were asking college players from Clemson/LSU kids who people were and only like 2 out of 8 or so recognized Nas in a picture.

I'm sure there's dope young artists out there. They're just not getting pushed as much.

I think another factor is I live different now. I use to go out a lot more, so I was more open to music that fit that. Now I hate being at a place too loud to hear who I'm with. Like some of these young boys probably make some hype shit, that's perfect for getting hype, or putting on a crazy show. I like some of it, but that's just not where I'm at.

IMO is a good album...is a Eminem album, so you gotta anticipate some cringe worthy joints like "stepdad"....but there's ALOT of good songs on this one. This the Em I fuck w.
