Yea but when a player says he can play knowing the team is depleted and you can probably bring something...the manager usually goes with the player...Rashford hungry...

Players can rule themselves out any time they want...see N’Dombele over the Xmas period which got Jose rattled.

Pogba is the perfect example of a player putting his health first.

Come on man you can see injuries on scans and your medical team can tell you when someone needs a rest

Agreed. Certain players play on where others won’t. That’s all I’m saying...if the manager has access to the scans... so does the player...niggas decide their own destiny but I concur a good manager steps in and puts his foot down.

It doesn't matter what the player wants tho' does it Ole knew he was injured an brought him on in a cup game now he out for three months

If OGS knew Rashford had a broken back and bone swimming laps around his ankle then he had a duty of care for his him and any other seriously injured player, its pretty simple... If its a cup final or home stretch in a title race, ok I get it... But playing him midweek in FA Cup replay against Wolves and running him to ground in a fruitless season??? Nah, terrible man management imo, when was he planning on actually getting him healthy??? OGS should have been getting him healthy ready for next season when we will hopefully be competitive again...

And you know players get funny looks when they say they cant play, same as a boxer saying they cant fight, they often (wrongly) get labelled quitters and weak...

I only agree with you here simply because it was a cup game and it was an unnecessary gamble. The ends didn't justify the means so OGS needs to hold that L big time...

But generally speaking, many a players throughout history are playing through injury and/or pain. And a lot of times managers expect players to play through that so OGS knowing of Rashford's injury and wanting him to play isn't that unusual

Two examples as Liverpool and Man U just played.

1) Klopp telling Sturridge to effectively play through his pain barrier: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Daniel Sturridge must learn "what is serious pain and what is only pain" in order to overcome his injury problems. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34947564

2) Mourinho talking about Smalling and Jones not playing through the pain barrier: Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has questioned the “cautious” mentality of modern footballers which he claims has led to defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones failing to play through pain for the club in Thursday night’s Manchester derby.
Mourinho clearly has a different view judging by the number of occasions when he has publicly challenged Smalling, as well as Phil Jones, to speed up their recovery from injuries, at one point stating that if he had the same problem he would declare himself fit the next day.

Smalling was one of the players to whom Mourinho was referring when he complained that the attitude was “cautious, cautious, cautious” and, again, when he talked about the player missing a game against Swansea City last November and spoke at length about there being “a difference between the brave, who want to play at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make a difference”.

Those comments backfired on Mourinho when it emerged Smalling had a broken toe but played with the injury two weeks earlier at Chelsea, a 4-0 defeat when the defender needed two pain-killing injections to be involved.

Should’ve been a drawn game. Martial & Parriera flunk 2 easy opportunities. Fred to a degree.

Man United just being choopid in the transfer market as usual.

They didn't heed warning earlier in the season when Martial was injured and resorted to playing Rashford through the middle instead of the left... and advanced greenwood's game time all because they willfully left themselves short following lukaku's departure last Summer.

OK to be fair, they did go in Jan for Haaland but at the same time, you knew who his agent was so how you allowed him to finesse negotiations let's me know you ain't built to handle Raiola and his shenanigans.

Once the Haaland deal aborted, instead of moving on to the next striker target, all the talk has been 80% Fernandes, 10% koulibaly and the remaining 10% a mixture of grealish, maddison, rice etc.

No new striker really...
Now if go into the market, you'll come off even more desperate as fuck.

Maybe go all out for Cavani... Or go for Chicarito

Jan panic buys especially for strikers never really ends well though...

Wouldn't be surprised if they buy nobody.

Solskajer said: “Marcus suffered a stress fracture against Wolverhampton. I don't know how long he will be out for, we will give him enough time to heal. Normally six weeks before you get going slightly probably and then he will need time to get match-fit again.

He's been absolutely fantastic all season. I don't wanna go into too much detail but it happened in that Wolverhampton game (the replay).

We had a similar spell with Anthony out for eight weeks and Mason got a few more games, has got more experience, Juan getting back to his best for me and we'll just have to deal with it.

The players are giving absolutely everything and, of course, when you miss Scott, Paul, and Marcus, any team would notice that. So that might mean we might look at some short term deals to take us until the summer, it might not.
“The permanent signings we'e looking for; the targets are not gonna change because we've got two or three players injured for the next few months. It'll still have to be a plan behind them but there might be some short-term deals we have to do.”

Problem with Man U current transfer affairs. They seem to always wait until the position they’re looking for in the market is in a desperate situation.

sell players till they’re at bare bones of a squad and wonder why other teams price hike their players, cus they know you’re desperate. The whole world knows you’re desperate.

You made this bed, now lie in it.
