Movie Night (Official Movie Discussion Thread)

Is there a thread for "the outlaw johnny black?" It black dynamite meets the old west in a nutshell. Michael jai white had some hiccups getting this project off the ground but he's gone back to shooting it recently.

Caught The Professor last night. This shit is good.

A lot of dark, sarcastic comedy.....some real life shit....overall good story.

Its Depp, so no need to mention the acting. Im just surprised I havent heard about this movie.

shame I gotta do this but there is one scene most of yall will probably have a meltdown over, but the shit was funny af

I ain't see a thread, but then again I half assed looked but went to see Queen and Slim last night.

Movie wants you think it's very poignant but I found it utterly forgettable.

well I saw Queen & Slim tonight and thought it was easily one of the best films of the year.

How the hell a black man in America could find that shit forgettable is beyond me but to each his own i guess

cacs already trying to bury this movie on IMDB

i need to blow up 10,000 cops in GTA V after watchin that smh

caught this last night.....dope project

is a little all over the place as the story goes on but it all tied together nice in the end

i went into it kinda serious, but it was much more comedic and fun then I was expecting

Assassination Nation
Ant Man and the Wasp
Arizona
The Hate You Give
Tyrel

Off the top

I have definitely seen more... Mostly recorded on my Sky box

Work and my kids got me slacking on movies but I saw The Irishman after three/four takes and Gemini Man.... Being a Will Smith fan.... Movie flopped due to circumstance (released about the same time as Joker)... But I thought it was a decent film...3/5

Just watched Freaks and it was a fucking good movie!

I would have posted the trailer but the trailer is confusing because it doesn’t want to give away away the movie, which is dope in itself.

Spoiler for those that want to know what it’s really about before taking a chance. I strongly suggest you don’t read it cause it’s so much better not knowing.

It’s really about people called abnormals, which are super powered people that are killed on site so they have to hide from the rest of the world.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

I liked it... Its another subversion of history by Tarantino.... A 'what if...?' scenario regarding the Manson family murders in '69

Great production design especially those Western posters...sometimes it felt like a movie within a movie

All great performances by Dicaprio and Pitt.... But I really liked Pitt's character in this flick... A dude who didn't take himself seriously and was loyal.... His dog became a huge piece of the puzzle too.. Margot Robbie did well as Sharon Tate too

Movie had the feel of a Stephen King novel on screen, and I like how it blindsides you by going left at the end. Another classic from an auteur

5/5

Still holds up.

I wanna see Gemini Man, but I'm in no hurry. I think it flopped bc people are tired of seeing Will Smith save the world. I think it's for the same reason Bad Boys 3 ain't buzzin.

He needs to play against his usual type at this point to re-spark public interest.

Just playing an assassin trying to get out the game but has to deal with a younger clone of himself

No saving the world here

Will just need to focus on better scripts/screenplays. Like did he read the whole thing? Like tf?

Just watched Brightburn last night. I only watched it solely in hopes that it would clear from the STARZ app front page since I was tired of looking at the cover art everytime I logged in.

I already had low expectations. But basically I wasn't fuckin wit it at all. I just found it gory (strike one) and boring (strike two).

Some niggas might be into that gory shit, but I can't fuckin deal. I've noticed I've developed even less of a tolerance for it as I've gotten older too. Some shots just lingered on the shit, like Tarantino does feet. It felt fetishy.

Add that to the fact that there really weren't any performances or characters to root for and it just became a final hour of a struggle-acting little boy performimg mortal kombat style finishing moves on muhfuckas. Which actually sounds cool, but still ends up being not.

Nah that shit was good and hopefully the gunn brothers build some kind of universe out of it.
