Earlier this week, it was reported that Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri, the mastermind behind the team’s success, is reportedly “intrigued” by the potential opportunity to fix the mess that has been the New York Knicks.

Larry Tanenbaum, the co-owner and chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, the Raptors’ ownership group, says fans shouldn’t be worried about losing the highly-regarded basketball executive.

“He is the best,” Tanenbaum said of Ujiri, according to Michael Traikos of Postmedia. “But no team can come to talk to him. That’s tampering. And every owner knows that. Masai is here to stay.”



Ujiri’s contract with the organization runs through the 2020-21 NBA season and Tanenbaum is optimistic that he will be returning once the current deal expires.

“We hope so,” Tanenbaum said to Traikos about Ujiri. “We haven’t talked (about an extension) at this point in time, but if you ask him, his intentions are pretty clear.”

Given Ujiri’s successful track record, it makes sense that teams are interested in bringing him on board. But if Tanenbaum’s comments are any indication, it looks like Ujiri is interested in sticking around for the long haul.

Lets jusr say this Masai thing is even possible.

My thing is no front office exec is worth 2 first round picks no matter how good they are. Thats where I start the convo.

Then you look at someone as successful as Masai and see what hes done with toronto where their organization is disciplined as fuck, great player development, picked a great coach and empowered him. The list goes on. Say what you will about the Lowry Derozan years, but the Raptors have been very successful for a good 5+ years now and only had a true superstar for one of them.

When you look at it that way, then maybe you can convince me that Masai ends up being worth 2 first round picks. Even then, its a maybe.

But then you get to the point where this is Dolans team and Dolan is never gonna play the role of a patient, uninvolved owner. Regardless of how trash Phil Jackson was, it still needs to be said that Phil was promised full autonomy and was given 12 mil a year, and then news about how Dolan forcing Phil to do things started to leak.

So looking at it this way, its not worth giving up two picks for a Masai who will be handcuffed.

I feel you but you can’t scream title or bust and walk away unscathed

I don’t think Morey should get fired but if he does I’m not gonna be fucked up about it.
