Welcome To aBlackWeb

Eminem is not a musical legend.

Em’s music has aged HORRIBLY
youre only a musical legend if your art can stand the test of time.

I can still listen to tribe called quest in 2020 because its good music. I can still bump gangstarr in 2030 because its TIMELESS music.

ppl are calling em a legend while also saying they dont even listen to his music anymore.

HOW SWAY???

:sayit:

1000% on point.

I used to say Em is dope but his music just not for me. Then I went back and actually listened to his early shit and that shit aged horribly.

For the last 10 years he just rhyming words and shit sounds so forced. To me thats the worst type of rhyming. Listen to Black Thought rhyme every word in a sentence and it sounds like all the words belong there and flow seamlessly. Listen to any random Em track on his last 4 albums and it sounds like all the rhymes are out of place and forced.

I just dont get the Eminem hype.

Everyone can do this. Heres a random example

eh

watering Em down to 'lyrical miracle' rap is inaccurate af

but I will say his legendary status didn't come from any of his material from the last 10 yrs

take from that what u will

I think em is Redman light.

Red does everything em does better imo.

Only Redman wasn't as out there with the over the top silly shit. And the extra weirdo shit.

I mean Reggie definitely had his moments, but my point is I could never put em over red.

Red makes my top 10 depending on how I feel. I can see why niggaz rank em high... But he ain't better than red.

Mfers gotta stop sleeping on Redman. Redman >>>> most peoples favorite rapper by far

I said for the last 10 years. Em been nothing but a lyrical miracle rapper during the second half of his career.

His first albums he could really really rap. Not taking that away.

I agree 100%

If we are going by most of his work after relapse then no hes not a legend but those 1st 3 albums are undeniable to me

But 99-03 was a long ass time ago too so that shouldn't be ignored either

right that's why I said his supposed legendary status didn't come from his material from the last 10 yrs

I don't check for Em, but some of his shit 'finds me'

and that shit aint miracle lyrical either...not if ur really listening

Hopsin
Paul wall
Lil Whyte
Yella wolf didn't benefit from em?

He didn't open the doors for any of them bruh before Eminem there was Vanilla ice and those motherfuckers wit that "I'll lick ya bum-bum down" song and thats not all

its never been hard for a white rapper to get on and imo they got it easier than we do when it comes to getting on. It seems like all they gotta do is pick up a microphone these days.

Just look at Post Malone, Riff Raff, Stitches, lil peep, Slim jesus from Chicago and all these other mfs who we don't listen to but somehow know about.

of all those dudes u listed post Malone is the only one that has real success and i'd consider him more pop than hip hop

Thats true, they aren't as successful but they're known. People outside of their cities know who they are so they in there. As far as Post Malone goes i only know like two of his songs, i just always thought he was considered a rapper.

if we hold a conversation in proportion there are practically infinitely more well known underground black rappers than white. I don't think u can name more than a handful more white rappers. and NO ONE considers these ass jobs as legendary or talented.

truth be told.....niggas cant relate to A LOT of shit rap talks about...

but here we are.

people always use that "i cant relate" reasoning when they see fit. its funny actually

but Eminem subject matter appeals to no black people. I mean niggas can easily relate to migos smoking weed wanting bad bitches shooting guns.

killing my mom and taking shrooms and trashing pop stars ain’t relatable

Eminem = Elvis

Elvis didn't invent Rock N Roll, nor was he the best at it. But White people were in the majority when Elvis was hot so he did what Black people were doing but sold more records because he was White.

Now, in 2019, everybody knows that Elvis was a big star back in the 50s and 60s, but I don't recall any of his music actually being played at parties. I don't know anybody that listens to Elvis, White or Black.

I know Elvis was popular, but I can't think of any song by him that I would recognize.

People still listen to Ray Charles, The Beatles, and Billie Holiday; Elvis, not so much.
