Especially given the average person attending church in a black community are women, regardless of single or married most women attend church alone, and older folks on fixed incomes already. Or are they out here checking their youth summer pay stubs in order for them to attend too? That donation can be either money or time and the latter is what most give instead of money. Most churches, require check stubs so that they can tally up the 10% and offering, you get a statement at the end of the year so that you can claim those donations on your taxes. Did you know that you can do that??

New membership classes or seminars, they discuss these things to their new members, on how the church operates, donation fees, tithes fees, the process of how these things work. There are more churches that require you do submit your check stub or something where they can tally your givings towards the church in order for you to become a member there.

Most conferences get their bread from sponsors and make up the rest or a profit by charging folks to attend said conference. If he's indeed asking for donations to setup the conference then charging folks AGAIN to attend... that's pretty fuckin janky imo
