OPINION You don't need to use AI when a simple Google search will suffice

I know a lot of people have lost that sense of community. The "well, it's not directly impacting me so, I don't care that much", but we have got to start moving with a sense of urgency.

It's no coincidence the places they choose for these datacenters and an overwhelming majority of people are using AI for bullshit anyway.

They are trying to put one in a similar community in the parish I currently live in which will be close to the Mississippi River.

AI definitely has some uses that google doesn't fill. It's a solid aid when used intentionally, kinda like your own personal "Jarvis". For me google still has it's place for searching, but sometimes I've used AI to learn some new software or troubleshoot where I get stuck in the process. You can use it to create your own documentation for what you're studying or learning. It only thinks as deep as whoever using it does, but I can see how becoming too reliant on it becomes a concern. Sometimes I use ChatGPT to refine a google search that isn't giving me the results I want.

I do believe the average consumer using AI does consume resources, but this many data centers is likely more for managing just how much AI is being used in stuff like the extensive surveillance system around the US. AI companies like Palantir for US Defense, AI assisted Drones, all of these new AI "startup" companies popping up every month, and corporate entities starting to use AI/robotics over employees. That stuff might be playing a more significant role for the amount of data centers we're seeing IMHO.

That OpenAI guy was recently talking about charging people for AI as utility. Get that shit out of here. We do not need AI and I never use it. That is what they want, to charge you more money for something that is not needed.

whe it comes to stock tradong and options ai has reduced by lesrning curve exponentially..yes google would do but it seems to pick up and what i meed and how i learn on particular to give me what i want

You don't need an AI search, but I won't lie, the automatic summary the Google AI gives you when you do a normal search is really good. These days I rarely need to look farther than that for all the info I need.
I feel this will cost people in the long run. I have come across AI being inaccurate enough that I can't trust the information without verifying the source. I need to know what kind of sauce was used before I trust the chef.

That's fair. I always check the sources for important stuff too.
