I respect Dr. Umar, but he dead wrong when he says that they may have had low esteem because of only white people. It was both BLACKS and whites, and black people dissing their looks was probably more impactful.

You know a lot of black people (esp. men) don't like more Afrocentric-looking black women.

I am not just talking about high profile controversies. I am talking about their whole lives, including before they became household names. And there are many Afrocentric-looking women who talk about their experiences of colorism among black people. These same women will tell you that experiencing colorism from your own people is more hurtful.

Even on the IC I remember a ton of dudes who were dissing them. Shit used to make me mad.

Fam I can try to understand that and it won't still make sense to me

I'm not invalidating their experiences or calling them liars but I am saying there are black men who thought both of those sisters were attractive even if there were some who didn't think they were
