I've been said them ratings don't mean shyt. If they were that important....then WWE would've BEEN outta business years ago.

Nah you got it backwards, they've always done numbers but wrestling as a whole never did ad rates commensurate to their viewership.

Thats why Nick Khan is the MVP of this era. He got them better sponsorship deals.

I look at ratings the same way I look at the stock market. Shyt goes up and down every week. Which is why I never understood why a lot of these wrestling stans hang on to these reported numbers like it's the holy grail.

This is why I'm not concerned wit AEW. They're still a 4 year company. Like I said b4...folks need to stop comparing the 5+ decade of WWE's existence, to a 4 year company. It will take AEW time. Just like it took WWE time
 
i'm not gon lie, we're at a point where saying "AEW is a 4 year company" doesnt fly anymore. They've championed themselves as a challenger brand and they are far ahead of every other promotion not named WWE. They are locked into that #2 spot.

But TV ratings in 2024 is such an odd topic depending on what side of the fence you're on which is why I think its partially a dis-ingenuine discussion as it pertains to AEW. It is pretty alarming how they've faired ratings wise the last year or so but one thing I've learned is that AEW had great ratings when WWE as a product was in the toilet. Now that WWE is hot again it seems like folks who turned it off for AEW, now have come back. Which led me to believe some folks just wanted WWE to be better. Then theres just the fact that people dont consume TV the same in todays society.

For WWE fans, RAW & Smackdown are appointment viewing. They've been generally on the same networks on the same day for years. You dont even have to think about it. Monday / Friday comes you just know what time it is. AEW dont have that same luxury. Most ppl I know catch AEW shit on streaming sites and what not. Ironically enough despite the low number, Dynamite was still in the top 5 in cable that nite. So how you look at it depends on what your argument is. And alot of it is bad faith cause even tho Warner Bros aint tryin to give them NBA money, AEW will still get a new TV deal cause you cant beat having a wrestling program on your channel that theres literally no off-season.

I mean I understand your point. But this is a 5 year old company that debuted on international television out the gate. Multiple world champions on their roster out the gate. Spending 100s of millions of dollars out the gate. There's not really another company to compare it to because the circumstances are so unique. The closest comparison is to WCW, and that company did in fact go out of business.

AEW is bleeding money. Maybe the Khan's treat it like a tax writeoff and that never matters, but it's currently the most financially unsuccessful wrestling company in history. And their owner repeatedly stated that those losses would eventually be covered by their media rights deal. But thats increasingly looking unlikely considering their continued downward spiral in audience retention in contrast to their continued explosion ib expenses via talent acquisition.

In a traditional business this is the point where something would have to change. Either they would have to dramatically increase their revenue or they would have to significantly cut their talent roster. The only hope for AEW continuing in it's present form is that Tony Khan is the son of a billionaire. But that's a tough ask when he is not the one actually controlling the real purse strings.

That's reality bruh. Everyone has a lot to say when AEW ratings are down. But it be crickets when they ratings are high. That is my issue. And AEW being a 4yr company is reality. It's still a young company no matter how you look at it. Like I said....they g'on be alright

Man, what high ratings? This ain't about 1 rating or a string of ratings. This is their year over year:

Their TV deal expires in 4 months. Their owner stated they needed a huge increase to start making money. Well their ratings are plummeting across the board. They are playing to arenas that are 70 and 80% empty. They have multiple pushed acts that are actively driving away their audience everytime they show up on screen.

The ONLY reason someone reads that and think they gon be aite, is because of Tony Khan's money. But by every verifiable metric they are a failing enterprise. Which okay, young company. Except they don't seem to want to improve their business. Tony is tweeting that he does it for the Sickos and yeah it reflects in the lack of audience.

When someone says this in an online space though? They're called a hater. Told they don't like "real" wrestling and basically MADE to stop watching. People who like AEW are not permitted to criticize it and that's why the audience is where it is presently. They are in capital T, trouble but you can't actually say that, lest you be banished. Someone needs to get at Tony and save the only alternative we have had in 20 plus years before it's too late. Because it can all go away, a show that has lost over half it's initial audience doesn't HAVE to continue to be broadcasted.
