I think I’m cute. I know I’m sexy.

In “Widow’s Bay” something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.

Im enjoying this series for the most part that feels like a blend of a small town Stephen King story and the TV show Picket Fences. Tom Loftis is doing all he can to breathe new life into the dying town of Widows Bay but it's likely his disdain for the people of the town that makes most of them not fully get on board with his mission they barely have any respect for him. The entire cast is doing a great job displaying frustrations and quirkiness. Im drawn in to what may or may not be a haunting atmosphere that surrounds the town and im very curious to find out what's really happening. Even though the turn in episode two was very predictable I'm still looking forward to how things will play out in future episodes.

Good show. I like that’s it’s a horror comedy. Also like that they’re not trying to be obscure with the horror. It’s out in the open and the viewer knows it’s real and not just in someone’s head.
