My theory as to why SOME people on here go so hard at Africans (and other immigrants) is because of the feeling of betrayal.

NOBODY has fought harder for African and immigrant rights than Black Americans.

We’re the ones who made it easier for them to be here in the first place!

WE protested against apartheid harder than Black South Africans did.. We went as far as making songs protesting the injustice that Nelson Mandela and the South African people faced!

I could go on and on…

And then for some (not all) immigrants to come here and belittle, undermine and disrespect us is a slap in the face.

We don’t expect Donald Trump and the republicans to have our backs.

I will say this. The more I think about it, the more I think black immigrants must have fucked up somewhere along the way.

People love to say that black immigrants only started going to America after 1965. That's bullshit. West Indians, as well as some Black Canadians, were going there all along. The thing is, from my reading it appears that Black Americans were largely accepting of them. When I was living there briefly no one gave me any flak for being West Indian.

Something, then, must have changed. I think its more likely that black immigrants rather than Black Americans changed.

So the FBA movement is a response to something real. But that doesn't mean that hasn't taken an ugly, xenophobic turn.

A lot of black people were fired from the Fed.

Removal of DEI policies make it so we can be discriminated in the work force again, preventing us from getting jobs.

Cuts to Medicaid and SNAP disproportionately impacts black people. As does time limits on Section 8.

Personally I’ll be paying triple in student loans and my shit won’t get discharged for a much longer time. This disproportionately impacts black people too.

That’s just off top of my head with about 2 minutes of thought.
