the problem with many of these types of stories is that there just isnt that much known about them unfortunately.
So if someone were to try and write a movie about them, and people want it to be factual as well as entertaining, writers would have to come up with a way to do both and still put people in the seats.
i read that Fires of Jubilee that Nate Parker said was the influence of "birth of a nation" and tbh, hats off to him b/c the book to me, doesnt really leave much to work with for an actual movie to be compelling enough for 90 minutes. There isnt a lot info about Nat Turner, yet he managed to make a movie about it only to have the momentum derailed by some fuck shit from his past.
But Du, stop looking for hollywood to tell you about your ancestry. If you want lil Du's to know about this guy, YOU tell them.
You get mad, upset, tight, annoyed, etc... about these "trendy" niggas as you like to call them, but how can you get mad over people celebrating a fictional character which the creator has limitless possibilities to write about b/c its a made up character?
