I'm asking what is your end game. You want Drake to find a sound? What does that look like to you?
IMO, I don't think that there's any artist out right now that can do what Drake does. I'm talking about their musical talent as far as rappers go.
Also Drake reps Toronto heavily and he claims that. So is you big hang up that you don't know what Toronto's sound is and therefor Drake shouldn't sound like anything? I'm trying to understand even though we have different opinions.
Drake doesn’t have to find a sound. He’s already proven that he can be successful beyond measure, by using the tactics that he has thus far. And you’re correct. There aren’t any other rappers who could do what Drake does. I ain’t tryin to pack Drake up. His has a great collection of music that I happen to enjoy.
I think at this point, for Drake and his followers, the end game is to ADMIT where his weaknesses are. Because once you can do that, you’d have a clearer understanding of why he got washed in this battle. There are fixtures of hip hop that have been principles since its inception. Some of those include authenticity, because I need to be able to SEE you. Only then can I trust you. That’s law in hip hop and is symptomatic and a further extension of being black. I don’t know why his supporters can’t hold that.
It’s like sir… you buy friends, you buy women, you hop on every style, you chase anything that you think makes you look blacker, you chasing shadows, you’re a chameleon, you’re a floater, you go with what the wave is, you’re trendy, and then you remind us why you’re really not one of us, you make cringy slave references, you had to learn how to enunciate the n word correctly, it’s not inherent to you, you’re not one of us, your accent is funny, and it keeps changing, you don’t respect black men’s codes because you’re not one of us, you play with these men by going after their wives, you don’t know any better, you’re weren’t raised with our values, it bothers us, we tolerate you because yo shit is heat, you should be thankful we pretended this long, there are more deserving talents, be grounded enough to recognize this..
