I was speaking specifically to the tweet that I quoted. Nobody ever held Jay up as some purist non-commercial entity that was solely in it for "the culture" but for some reason people are doing that with Kendrick when the reality is he's a goddamn pop star just like Drake.

I was about to say something similar but without looking I don't even know if Drake has that many collabs with white pop stars. This is what's funny too me about the attacks directed at Drake about him not being for the culture or even a culture vulture.

Then the way people are trying to flip that and question his blackness is what's really tacky.

No matter which way you look at it the main points people are using to go at Drake are very personal and false? considering he is Black and he hasn't appropriated hip hop culture.

I also can't stand when people try to police hip hop culture and try to hide behind it in some corny attempt to protect Blackness or Black purity when hip hop as a culture has been pillaged from day one and a lot of that was by the people who were put in position to enable it.

Like, this nigga Drake has been on a crazy run with Future and now he's a culture vulture and not Black? Nigga had mad collabs with the niggas he's beefing with but his status wasn't in question until Kendrick spoke on it? Also Kendrick is another example on why you can't make any one of these niggas some authority figure on hip hop in general.

The way that fans and media are pushing this shit makes it seem like Drake is the best hooper in the school and everybody knows that and they hate on that nigga for it. Kendrick is the best player in the neighborhood but he doesn't go to the same school as everybody else so niggas be happy when he comes around to hoop because they think that he's gonna serve Drake but in reality they're both on the same level and the question on who is better is subjective. Some might say Kendrick is better but y'all not hooping with that nigga everyday. You hoop with him every now and then. Meanwhile Drake has been busting y'all ass for years and it's gotten to the point that niggas will start to find anything they can use to go at that nigga to dim his light or knock him down a few levels.

That's why you see a lot of these hip hop purist and culturally conscience people trying to dissect this beef and try and pick apart Drake attacking areas that do not take away from the fact that he's been the best player for a minute and whooping y'all ass. They think Kendrick has somehow earned the right to claim the title as the best but they really don't know this niggas and he might not even be the nigga they're hyping him up to be. That's why it might not be the best idea to try and use Kendrick as some tool to get rid of or knock down Drake. Drake is a hooper too so it ain't like Kendrick is playing against a bum regardless on how much niggas hate Drake.

Because Kendrick is seen as "real hip hop".

As corny as Drake is, him not considered himself Black was something that never popped up. He just seemed like the kid who was happy he got to hang around his cousins he thinks are the cool kids. But it never came off as faking Blackness. Just being somebody who is saying the shit he thinks the people he views as cool wanna hear.

Drake is obviously getting his ass whooped by any metric.

Mister numbers man is losing at his own game.
All his disses have been disproven.
He got taken to task by Pac's estate.
Like that is still the number 1 rap record out.
Euphoria got more views and likes in 11 hours than Push Ups had in 11 days.
Euphoria winning every poll they can come up with including Akademics', who is as Team Drizzy as they get.

Ol' "it's even right now" ass niggas. What kinda Don King scorecard yall got? Shiz in here talkin down rap's impact on the culture... NIGGGUH! Drake  is the biggest perpetuator of the shit you claiming! We getting this turkey up out of here. He can make his pop records and that's fine. But this hip-hop shit??? OUR culture?! He gotta go.

LOL @ "question his blackness"

The man said he associated himself as a black man ... He didn't say he was a black man

Remember Kaepernick? Yeah he's mixed too but he's a conscious brother and started a movement

Drake has never in his music promoted pro blackness ... Ever
As we see

Here on abw

Canadians HATE pro blackness, despite tethering on to our culture, slang and appearance etc

One thing Joe Budden said that is very true about Drake is that he's embarrassingly aging backwards.

He was so mature from So Far Gone era onwards but now in the For All The Dogs era you have a 37-year-old man who wears colourful nail polish now, a weirdo kid-like-style clothing choice, producing music for the young audience. The fuck man lol.

It is so hard to root for him, but I am standing on my square on having Drake win this shit lol.

You mans who voted J. Cole got it worse so... *Kanye shrug*

I'm still in disbelief that Dwayne said Drake the underdog. When this popped off a few weeks ago the narrative was Drake is battle tested and Kendrick isn't. Drake is more popular, sales more, ect...we were wondering how Kendrick would handle a direct beef.

Was Kendrick track so good that it made Drake the underdog? Come on now, man.

I just realized somethin…

These “Drake is the underdog/Kendrick didn’t say nothin new” ass niggas ain’t sayin that outta spite…

It’s relief. They knew it was coukd get ugly for the boy, but they relieved that win or lose, they can still Stan in peace.
