Kendrick Lamar - GKMC
Meek Mill -Dreams & Nightmares
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday : Roman Reloaded
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis-The Heist
Nas - Life is Good

Kendrick didn’t drop until the end of the year, so his impact wasn’t felt at all until the following year.

This goes to either.....

2 Chainz

Future

Or Rick Ross

They had the game on lock. Tony Montana, Same Damn Time, Hold Me Back, Dice Pineapples, I’m Different, and No Lie were hits that ran 2012.

2 Chainz.

Had the albums and features. Better bars than Future, although Future was still worth a damn then.

No Lie was the beginning of a trend where I couldn't stand Drake, but on a 2 Chainz song, he'd show out.

Also, this was also the beginning of the rise of Mike Will, probably the producer if the decade.

Kendrick easily.

His first single for GKMC dropped in April and he was dropping loose singles like "cartoons and cereal" earlier in the year too

Kendrick didn’t become a name until ‘Swimming Pools’ became a radio and club hit, which was the beginning of 2013. Prior to that he was just one of many promising underground rappers

Swimming Pools dropped in July of 2012.

It wasn’t on many people’s radar until early 2013. At the most, late 2012.

My (along with many others) first time hearing about Kendrick Lamar was when the following song began to get popular during the end of the summer in 2012...

Kendrick wasn’t popping like that until the end of 12/beginning of 13.

It was on the hot100 the same week it debuted.

Respectfully Bro, nobody that I know of, was giving a fuck about Kendrick Lamar when Future was busting through the door with....

Or Ross had everybody turnt to.....

Bro, I’m a big fan of Kendrick Lamar, but other than dedicated hip hop heads, nobody was checking for Kendrick like that when Future, Ross, and 2 Chainz were holding down 2012.

You're talkin about your circle of friends and their opinions, I'm talkin about facts fam.

None of that shit u posted was bigger than swimming pools, SP was a 4x plat song. Recipe was a plat single. He was also on "fuckin problems", that was a 3x plat single, etc.

The #s speak for themselves. Then on top of that, he dropped an album where most people called it an instant classic. There's really no debate.

The biggest artist, songs and album of the year was...stop hating white privileged and West Coast Hip Hop...lol

I am gonna say Kenny, most folk were catching on to Section .80 by that time and I started seeing threads about him in the reason and not in the essence lol...
