Who Is The Biggest "What If" In HipHop History?

What if Lil Wayne succeeded in his suicide attempt?

Pac death is definitely the biggest What If

Pac death def changed the game fo sure.

But imo even if pac woulda lived DMX woulda found his lane. Young X had toooo much talent. Early X its dark n hella is hot X era was wild.
50, Em, Jay as well as others were all inevitable

Pac was a great artists but a terrible buisiness man and he had zero clout in any record label board room

You speak as if he had real power in the industry lol. He was just as much a pawn as any other artist

This was supposed to be a response to @Disanthrope post lol

My bad @Marc123 lol

When questions like this are asked, I always think the people who did blow up are a real life what if.

At any moment, Jay could have just not started rapping. Heard he didn’t even want to at first.

What if those bullets killed 50?

What if Drake pursued acting instead of rapping?

For every what if that went wrong, there’s a what if that went right.

Bullshit. inevitable?

Eminem does not exist without the deaths of pac and biggie.
He only came out under Dre looking for something brand new and different

If pac and big were alive and well there's no goofy white boys coming out taking over the game

Jay wouldn't I've been the Undisputed King of the game without those deaths

And pac being a businessman has zero to do with what we're talking about. It's about Mass Appeal and how the fans view artists. He was king. He was where drake is

None of tthose artists i listed would have seen the their level of success if pac doesn't get shot

Respectfully disagree.

If Pac doesn't get shot he goes to prison for violation of his bail (getting in that fight in the casino, kicking Orlando Anderson when he was down)

And he was never where Drake is. Drake is just as popular (Lord knows why, I think Drake's music is meh) but Drake has business acumen and didn't get into stupid beefs.

Death Row would have folded either way. Pac would have gone to prison to serve the rest of his sentence. Dre bounced, Snoop bounced. Suge had zero business acumen.

Pac would have ended up like DMX towards the end of his career, a has-been.

50 in particular, his whole career is like him making fun of his shooters. He built a whole music and television Empire because niggas can't shoot right

You might be right about that but what I really meant is... lets say they don't even jump the crip dude, nothing goes wrong that night, death row remains on top for a very long time, unless something else got them caught up, which could have happened.

I'm talking if pac doesn't die because he never got shot because he never jumped the Crip none of those artists would have had the careers they had

Still disagree

Pac would have stil been a popular artist…but you speak as if his popularity would have somehow suppressed those others

And thats just not true

He couldn't even suppress the popularity of his biggest opp in BIG

I for one…dont think the hip hop industry would be wildly different if Pac and Big had lived.

It would have been exactly how it was amd is…Big and Pac would just be OGs in a chamging industry

The real what if is if they each would have had the ability to adapt and evolve

I don't know about y'all but me being a West Coast nigga we've been playing this what if game since pac. Cuz we looked at that whole thing like our ice cream falling off the cone

We used to watch these things and kind of study it because me and my friends ended up in the independent hip hop game..

If they both lived they would have just been going Tit for Tat at the top for a long time to the point where there wouldn't have been room for Jay and Nas legendary beef, now that I think about it. West coast rappers would have still been the opps

But I'm telling you the careers Em, DMX, ja and others ain't happening without Pacs fall off because they were literally fill in the void type situations. There were articles written on them niggas being "the new Tupac" and stuff like that. Surpassing pac was the benchmark for the late 90s - early 2000s. The media was always looking for his replacement, because they're speaking for the casual fans.

Again

You are overestimating the cache and influence Pac ACTUALLY had.

Em was inevitable. Even if he doesnt get down with Dre do you think the industry would let a white man with legitamate skills fail…hell naw lol

ESPECIALLY when a majority of the consumers (ones who actually spend money) of Hip Hop are WHITE MALES lol

They only needed Dre to get the blacks on board but Em was gonna be Em with or without Aftermath

50, Jay, Kanye, all inevitable

They were and are elite talents and even better businessmen and the businessmen part is and has been arguably more important than the actual artistry since 2ks

Atlanta and the south as whole taking over the game…inevitable

They still would have been compared to Pac regardless. Cause yeah…Pac was at the top.

Similar to how many new artists are compared to Drake, Wayne, Kanye, etc…cause of their influence

Its the same thing

I think pac would've coonshamed Dre for signing Em

Pac woulda Ja Rule'd Eminems career after Hi my name is dropped

:hahaha:
