Idk why I had votes hidden in these threads when i made em 2 years ago but if yall want, i'll make the votes public from now on.

LL dominated the second half of the 80s when I was in high school. He dropped his first album in late 1985 when Rap albums weren't that common. Radio rocked all the way into 1986. Then he dropped Bigger & Deffer which was a 5 mic classic. He had a battle with Kool Moe Dee, Ice T, Hammer and a handful of lesser known rappers.

LL didn't just have a three year run like Run DMC, DMX, 50 Cent or Dipset, he continued to drop heat well into the 90s. I Shot Ya (Remix) and 4,3,2,1 had LL rhyming with rookies and he still shined.

He even had some success in the early 00s.

The only reason he's not the all-time GOAT is because he was never really my favorite MC. I thought Rakim and KRS were better in the late 80s, although LL shined in the spotlight longer.

I voted top 10

I said HITS, maybe Nas (i gotta go check), but those other niggas didn't have HITS in 3 decades.

I don't know if you consider How To Rob a hit, but it came out in 1999, then 50 had a bunch of hits in the 00s. Then he had a hit with Chris Brown a few years ago.

Rakim had the game on lock from 86-92, although top 40 radio stations weren't playing rap. But if you went to a high school dance with a DJ Eric B is President was the song that got the party started, also I Know You Got Soul.

Eric B & Rakim were huge amongst teenagers. There's no equivalent in todays market because top 40 stations play rap.

Anyway, Classic came out in 2008, so Rakim rocked from 86-08.
