Welcome To aBlackWeb

What's with all the interracial dating in cinema these days?

More or about the same?

I have $5 but I lost $3 in a bet, but I found $2 on the ground. Did I really gain anything?

I think there are seemingly more black films overall right about now... and the diversity in the amount of stories being told is up as well.. It's no longer strictly just black pain shit.

do you not count any of the biracial folks that have sprung up in these shows as black?

Would that not count towards the overall amount of black folks on tv and movies?

i think my main gripe is, while we have made steps in our black/black relationships on screen, we are still very much a minority when it comes to displaying these depictions. Spike Lee was a main staple in the 90s, and I know we have guys like Ryan Coogler, but its still not enough. For every show/movie that has black relationships, there is going to be double that for interracial depictions of relationships.

I'm fine with mixed blacks as long as they are with other either mixed blacks, or non mixed blacks

I dont wanna see a mixed black with another white person as the love interest

put it like this, and i know this is my own bubble and probably where im from, but i do NOT know a single black woman that has a desire to be with a white man under ANY circumstances. They practically detest white men entirely and wouldnt dare be in a relationship with one, but these shows will have you thinking that this is something black women are actively desiring when its not. There are the Sage Steele's of the world who might, but they do NOT represent black women as a whole.

I honestly can't pinpoint when it began but I swear every new show on Netflix has an interracial relationship.

Damn near all the "high school" centric shows have interracial relationships but the trip part about it is they never show the shit that comes from the relationships. Everyone is always so happy.

Like the bullshit movie I just saw "someone's in your house". There was NO need for an interracial relationship. It added no value to the story. And white dudes, especially young white ones in high school not checking for no young black girls as they typically tend to use them as the butt of their jokes for their "frat bros" in training.

Blacks get tired struggle tropes for relationships depicted but interracial couples just living happily ever after? FOH

Commercials too

Was coming in to say this.

Most of them it's a black woman with a white man. It's as if these companies are saying

"Oh you want interracial couples...cool. But we gonna make sure a white man is at the helm of the relationship."

Eh, maybe in America? In my country inter-race couples in commercials are mostly black men white women. You'll rarely see any other mix.

Last movie I saw with an interracial couple was Sonic the Hedgehog. Dude who played cyclops in the first x-men movies and an actress I never seen before.

My first thought was surprise because I don't see white men-black women couples that much in big Hollywood movies. But that race dynamic is my own parental reality so, to me anyway, it doesn't come across as forced.

Man ...

One of the major grocery supermarkets in the UK made an Xmas advert... I think last year...

With a FULL black family...

Cue the backlash from Whites and some saying they're boycotting that retailer

And as an antithesis to this thread subject... Once a commercial or advert is with a full on black couple or family... some white people start invoking terms such as 'woke' or 'virtue signalling'

But yeah I always just SMH at the forced interracial stuff especially on adverts/commercials on my side of the world... it's annoying

They using white men with black females because black men with white women is already a thing.

But Black women with a white man is some extra rare shit
