Eminem runs this. Even before 50 started injecting industry lingo into the fandom, everybody knew Eminem's strategy of "funny first single to get the pop crowd, then lyrical miracle single for the purists."
That said, his pop shit is god awful and easily runs this.
True, but goddamn did he overplay his hand with this album. Doubling down on “serious and deep” tracks like “Mosh” & “Toy Soldiers” killed it for me. The former trying to be this doom and gloom rebel anthem against the Bush administration that in hindsight feels like a big waste of time. The latter just depresses me especially seeing Proof get killed in the video just for life to imitate art anyways. That’s the shit that truly annoys me because these half assed short sighted tracks are the highlights of a shit album.
